Yes! And struggling to change my career path. All potential recruiters see is my experience. Not my education or my eagerness to start from the bottom. If I could tell my 20 year old self anything it would be to not stay in the same job for longer than 2 yrs at a time. The market sucks!

I went into transfer pricing, I might never get to do real tax. My relationship partner did seem eager to help me find ways to enjoy my job when I opened up. Haven’t tried to make any big moves since I want to make sure I make a good decision for the long term, not something that’ll just make me happier in the short term.

EY1, what’s your end goal? if you’re stuck on 1040s, see if you can get involved in comp, employment tax, consulting, etc - there’s enough out there under the mobility umbrella to change up what you do, especially if you are early on in your career. Having experience in multiple areas can pay off later

What line of tax are you in op?

Yes I'm struggling. I'm in global mobility

My goal is to pay my mortgage and get an instated industry job with less hours. I've done comp and tax and I can't get past the phone screens because they want different experience

Def pigeon holded into sales tax. It's boring but fairly straightforward and easy. So it's not the end of the world I guess.

Become the person they want in the job profile. Embellish (a little) and don’t talk a lot about things that don’t fit the job description. It has helped me...hopefully outta here soon

Does anyone have tips for the structured interview process at a federal agency? I’m trying to transition from impact litigation at a non-profit to an agency focused on trade and consumer protection. I’ve received private sector offers but can’t seem to make it past the first round for federal government. I must have the appropriate credentials to receive an invitation at all and have researched behavioral interview prep—what am I missing?

First review is coming up. Tips for survival? I fully expect it to be terrible. I am not happy here, I never have been, I don't want that to come across in the review, and I just want to make it out of the meeting with a small amount of grace. My plan is to just nod along and say thanks, will work on. I am also insanely busy right now and this is the last thing I want to deal with.

Hey all!
Me and my spouse are in our mid 30s and current HHI is $250K. I'm making 200K, my spouse is making 50K.
I'm new to FIRE concepts. We currently live in LCOL and have 24K/year debt.
Where should we start saving/investing? Both have awesome credit scores, but no significant savings due to coming from very poor countries/families and just last year we're able to change our lives.

I would appreciate any guidance/help on how to best prepare for our future.
