Let it be a lesson that you can’t win without chips in the game. Life is about risk. Everybody dies but not everybody lives. It’s not too late to get back in the game - lots of upside left. Blockchain and crypto are going to change the world - many are just too set in their ways to realize it yet 👊🏻
Then of course, everything went ballistic in 2021, which we specifically discussed was a possibility. But it’s been torture and depressing to watch things go 2-10x in such a short time, especially when much of it is idiotic, driven by tweets and YOLO gambling. I feel like a failure compared to some of the most irresponsible people i know who went in huge on doge even after big run ups because Elon tweeted about it, or who refer to bitcoin as an “innovative company,” or put big chunks of net worth into random alt coins simply because they were still in the dumps (it’s barely traded or on any exchanges but it’s 90% off it’s ath!).
I got it so so wrong after believing for years and paid dearly in massive opportunity costs. I don’t know how to not be clinically depressed over this. And i know it sounds awful since i made some money and a lot of people are really suffering and i have no right to be this obsessive and mad about it. My fiancée doesn’t even mind - she’s more risk averse and doesn’t see missed gains as a loss.
I know a lot of people have similar scenarios since obviously there’s been buyers and sellers at every point since the exchanges first started. And i know my missed 10x gains don’t even compare to people who sold bitcoin or doge in early days. How do people get over missed gains on that magnitude?
There are always going to be these "the one that away" stories for the rest of your career ( my old boss used to calculate how much the amazon shares he sold in 2005 would be worth). It's not really healthy to dwell so you just got to move on. My approach has always been hitting singles and doubles rather than swinging for that homerun only to strike out.
