Anyone else feel everything takes three times as long WFH? I’m worried partners will think I’m taking too long to finish simple projects.

Yes, absolutely. I’m usually the person that judges others when they have reasons their work isn’t performing, and writes off their reasons as excuses. Corona has humbled me because I now find myself asking for compassion as my work product is subpar and I’m inefficient. A definite wake up call that I’ve been undermining legitimate circumstances surrounding my colleagues.

If you went from dual screens to one, that would knock down your productivity. And if you like to work on hard copies but your printer isn’t working for you, that would do it as well. Then there are children at home who can make WFH more difficult. But, if you are simply taking longer than usual doing tasks that don’t require missing technology, it sounds like you may be lacking motivation or have stopped making work a priority. Do you find yourself worried about health, groceries and job loss? Having trouble getting enough sleep despite having a bed so close to the office? These things can throw a wrench in the productivity machine.

I can not recommend a second screen more. I find it nearly impossible to work on just the tiny laptop screen. WFH or partial WFH will likely be the reality for the time being. Get yourself a second screen. You don’t have to get anything fancy. I got one a couple years ago that cost less than $100. It works just fine.

I actually feel like my productivity is higher at home vs in the office. I feel less stressed and also I don’t have to waste 1.5 hrs with the commute and can get ready in the morning on an as needed basis. Also the diff between coronavirus wfh and normal times wfh is totally diff. This is more like u are under house arrest. Normal wfh jobs allow you to be able to leave the house and engage socially with others.

Anyone just getting tired of their partner on a whole new level with WFH? I feel like we are getting into spats more, I'm getting more resentful of the lack of even workloads/effort, and to top it all off these tensions are literally invading my personal space! Not looking for advice really. Just wondering if anyone else is feeling partner fatigue more now than the Before Times.

I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.

I feel I lost my social or communication skills because of WFH! Does anyone feel the same way? Sometimes when ppl wanted to have small talks with me, all I wanted to do is to finish that conversation ASAP. It seems I lost the interest to whatever others are saying. Really need some advice here😭

Any recs for a semi-affordable, last minute get away? I’m still 100% remote, I’m burned out & I need a change of scenery for a few days. I’d plan to go for a long weekend & then work remotely for part & take part completely off.

Does anyone know of where to find remote part time work opportunities for older Indian women? My mom was a part-time after school teacher but has not been doing that due to covid (dad is high risk). I’m having her do some online typing lessons to get her to be a faster typer, maybe find her a data entry gig. She does not want to do nanny’ing / babysitting. She’s a great teacher though and she’s trilingual (Telugu, hindi) - anyone know of where to find opportunities?

Back on the market and I’m coming to find two things: 1. Less desirable agencies are the ones who want people back on-site soon, with no wiggle room for remote work. 2. These same agencies want to pay salaries based on COL in the city where the agency is based even if you’re working/living from another market in the interim. Example: Midwest based agency paying Midwest salaries to folks living in places like NY, SF, LA. 🧐🧐🧐🧐
