Anyone else feel like applying for jobs and interviewing takes years off their lives? Maybe it’s just me but I always get so anxious about scheduling and going into the next round

Yeah...why is it so hard ugh. Just give me a job already 😂

Hahaha agreed. Struggling here, trying to relocate to a new place and land a job there before my lease ends

Yeah it can be stressful for sure, especially the periods where you’re waiting to hear about a role you’re excited about. Easier said than done, but the more you can do to reduce your attention on any one role you’re very interested in (by A - submitting more applications, and/or B - finding things outside of work to get excited about), the less time you will spend being anxious while you await the next round. I say this as I’m also currently waiting to hear back about a role I’m reaalllyyyy interested in, among others I applied and waiting on. Some other things to consider as well: -It can be expected teams to not focus on recruiting as much as hiring managers prioritize other parts of their job before the end of the year/holidays, which delays the whole timeline -Some companies like to move faster with application processes than others, which mixes up our expectations of how quickly it should be progressing -The team might be looking to hit a quota of interviewees, even if they really want you

Oof yeah that can be tough... not sure if you’re able to extend your lease monthly but might be worth looking into while you go through this interview process among others. Hopefully you can learn within 1-3 months of doing monthly to have your next career step

The important thing is to not care as much. Feels trite but if you’re locked into the anxiety -> performance -> achieve -> anxiety for next achievement cycle, you’re gonna have a bad time. Be kind to yourself!

My problem is my current company and what I’m doing here is making more miserable then I ever have been. Really feeling burnt out everyday. So I care more about moving to the next place more than I usually would

I kind of get a rush. In my previous non-related role, at one point I just started applying for jobs for fun to see what types of positions I would get interviews for. The compensation for the travel and the hotel lodging was a nice perk too.

For sure! I use to get a rush too but then my current role became less enjoyable now I’m just anxious to move on 😂

Hi everyone! I’m a young CPA, relocating to Raleigh. I made the decision to transition into sales after realizing that I want to bring more fun into my career. I’m currently reading sales books, watching Keenan’s YouTube channel, and learning all I can. I’m relentlessly applying for SDR positions but I’m having trouble landing interviews (been applying through LinkedIn). I would appreciate advice from anyone who transitioned from another industry into sales. How did you break the barrier?
