Marsh & McLennan I am moving 2 hours from my office. My manager says i have to come 2 days to office. When i come to the office its only me and couple of other people. No one seems to care about coming to office. When i asked manager if i can work remote i was told that its for my career development. Can you guys tell in Canada which companies are offering remote opportunities?

Hey! PwC Deloitte Accenture EY KPMG MBA degree (if it really matters) 3 years in a smaller consulting company, 2 years leading Global and National expansion for two companies. 5 years working in banking and wealth management. Currently a Manager leading the wealth management strategy.
Currently in Georgia, open to relocation to Texas or New York if needed but would really appreciate guidance as well as a referral. Looking to make a pivot back into the industry I have a passion for.

Pwc has priced me out of industry. I’m at 117k in lcol as an s1 with 1.5 yoe. There is absolutely no place around that will give me even a 20% bump for my experience
Hours aren’t bad at all, I’d say most weeks 40-45. Obviously when it’s close to finishing a project/filing things will get ramped up but never worse than audit.

Industry seems like a place you go to just live a very cyclical life over and over
Not my experience at all. Even though it’s what I wanted. I work on everything from TP to provisions. IP integration and FTC. M&A, MAPs, DST studies, and substance reviews. My role keeps changing and evolving so much so that I crave the repetition of PA core tax. I just can’t give up the higher pay and wlb.
Depends on what area of industry you're talking about. I recently moved from PA as an S2 to industry (haven't updated my title on here) and got a 20% bump plus 10% annual bonus, but I went into technical accounting which pays higher than general accounting and is imo way more interesting. Heard my firm bumped S2 up to where I'm at base, but I work far less hours and have way more flexibility in my new role so i don't regret it 🤷
Would have never left audit for a senior accountant role though, 100% not worth it unless you really hate audit (I didn't, just had a great opportunity fall in my lap).
I can confirm. Industry will still work you. But I think you have a much stronger chance of automating and getting good at your role quicker than in public. That’s whats giving me hope.
If industry paid better I might be willing to take that bet.
I'm priced out of most industry jobs after the most recent comp cycle. HCOL. I make over $230k as a director. Industry jobs I was applying for as a manager topped out at $160k for non-exec levels, so with another pending comp cycle in a few months, it makes it even harder to leave. Well played B4...
Why would you apply for manager roles as a director?
