I left EY in 2020 due to burn out and other personal circumstances and joined a small CPA firm in 2021 hoping for a better work-life balance. While the hours are significantly less, I have grown increasingly demotivated due to the lack of emphasis on quality excellence, vibrant team collaboration, knowledge sharing, rigorous documentation, and intellectual discussions that I had grown accustomed to and for which I found great fulfillment. I want to go back to EY. Can someone give a referral? EY

If you show up with a good attitude, work hard, communicate well, show you’re willing to learn, then I can’t imagine you’d get a bad review.
High performers generally understand that they’re high performers and won’t knock someone just because they aren’t. Average performer with the above attributes would still get a good review in my book.
As for the comments on what you can improve - don’t take it personally and genuinely begin to work on those things. High performers like to see others succeed, too 🤗
Yeah this is just how it is in a competitive work environment we generally all get compared to our immediate peers not the hr defined benchmark. Sometimes it’s good sometimes not so much.
