Hello, I have received an offer from Southwest Airlines as a Associate Technology Analyst with their direct college hire program. Will be graduating in May with a degree in MIS and also have internships experience as a Business Systems analyst intern. The salary compensation started off at 66,500 but was looking for the 75k range and they got back to me saying the best they can do is 68,500. They also have a 401k company match up to 9.3%. Do you think this is a solid offer for this job market?

We are all getting seriously f*cked. I’d much rather pay higher taxes and have free healthcare services. I was just traveling in the UK and needed to go to the ER. Waited less time than US ER, got amazing service and care, and was out in less than 2 hours. (Yes, I know there is an extra tax on citizens for this but if that’s the type of care you get then totally worth it!!!)
So...completely change the American culture and it will all work.
What is the problem?
Have you considered voting for one Bernard Sanders?
I am French and I work in Germany: both countries have high taxes (Germany more than France) and universal healthcare.
Ask me all the questions you want - even how much I pay for it, if I have another private insurance and how that works in general.
The recent demise of good healthcare and other employment benefits was a result of organized labor disappearing. Once big government and corporation's started taking over, were all starting to see health benefits reduced that barely covers you or your family and PTO being converted to mandatory times. It will get worse because corp and big gov know we will not do a thing about it. However, in past times, workers were not afraid of setting something right.
I feel that younger workers 35 and below will resurge the numbers in organized labor down the road to fight back against corporate greed and benefits that in debt individuals and families.
I’m in favor of stronger unions but don’t want my employer to provide health insurance. It doesn’t make sense and is overly complex.
Welcome to post Obamacare!
Welcome to Kaiser Nixon HMOs! This shit's been going on for 45 years.
I really don't care what we call the healthcare system but it needs to provide affordable coverage for all and coverage should not be based on employment. I can't emphasize affordable enough. This would be $100 a month for individuals and $150 month for families. You pay once and no deductibles, fertility included. Copays for anything maxed at $10.
There should be a portal like healthcare.gov to purchase a plan and evaluate options.
Heal.co offers MD housecalls at only $99
We have tax funded healthcare and I'm super happy with it. It's one less worry in life. 🇨🇦
Medicare for All is the only way
Anything not elective. Again, everyone else has figured this out.
I don’t understand why big non-healthcare companies aren’t for this. They can offer supplemental insurance if they’re worries about attracting talent.
The big companies have market power to negotiate lower healthcare rates for their staff. It provides them an advantage relative to startups, small and medium businesses
Is anyone getting a good deal on healthcare anymore? Who read the NPR Bill of the Month about extracting doll shoes from a toddler’s nose in the ER cost $2,600? That’s one expensive pair of shoes! The system is broken!
Get your work to hook it up with an employee group, ZS’ healthcare is $25 out of paycheck no deductible and have yet to have an issue with coverage
People are saying you just discovered the real cost of health care?
What could be done to reduce the cost of a doctors visit? You’re a consultant, approach it as a case study. Why are costs high?
It’s because I know AN answer, but I’m not so arrogant as to believe that I know the right answer. This is everyone’s problem, everyone should contribute.
I would be highly impressed if any company did a pro-bono study of the issue with solid recommendations on how to address costs.
For what it’s worth, Slalom has the absolute best health benefits. I am afraid of leaving the firm, for fear of not ever finding as good of coverage as I have now
Think BCG would suit your needs on this one. Curious to know what Slalom’s is because I think BCG’s is truly unbeatable but maybe Slalom has it topped?
