I was contacted by an Amazon recruiter for a remote Sr. Program Manager role. I took and passed the assessment and was moved to the hiring manager round which was scheduled for tomorrow. I got an email tonight saying that the Director of the group decided that the person must be in Seattle. I am in Austin, which is not an option. I’m disappointed! The recruiter will let me know if any remote roles come up but in the mean time, does anyone have any remote Amazon roles that they’d refer me to?

The media does not care about black people
In fact, the media doesn’t care about whites either
The media wants to make more money. Race related topics get people riled up and make them money. That’s it.
Other topics the media like: wars, riots, crimes, politics, and anything controversial
Saw back then are so far beyond anything I see today that it’s really frustrating to see common meanness attributed to racism. I think it dilutes the nastiness of the real thing
🤨 nah fam racism isn’t just meanness. It’s an institution.
No. I definitely don’t feel that way. & racism is more than an idea; the flu virus mutates every year at least, but no one’s accusing the (white?) media of keeping the “idea” of flu alive.
How much you wanna bet a white person wrote this question? Lolol
Is there actually any disagreement here? Consultant OP says there is an apparent media tendency to report common meanness as racism. Other commenters claim to disagree by saying racism actually exists, it's more than and idea, minorities are impacted by it, and it's executed differently these days. None of these are in conflict with the content in the original post. Unless there is some underlying meaning I'm missing, I agree with all of these claims, including the original post.
Each news channel has 24 hours to fill. Anything that involves us vs. them helps fill those 24 hours.
Agree with Oliver Wyman 1. Just because racism is executed differently today doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist and shouldn’t be addressed. If anything, the media needs to do a better job of showing that people of color of all walks of life experience racism. It doesn’t matter if you live in the South, North, East, or West, if you are a person of color, odds are you have been negatively impacted by racist people and/or institutions. It matters not if you’re a consultant or a janitor or if you have 5 degrees or are illiterate or anything in between, you likely have had some less than pleasant experience that stemmed from your race.
