Anyone else find things have slowed down significantly? Haven’t been this slow since the pandemic started and I’m getting concerned.

Same here! Super slow. Oh well, we’ll look back when we’re busy and wish it was dead again.

Oh god I wish I was slow right now (January was very slow). It’s taken me a few years, but I’ve learned to embrace and enjoy the slow, because I guarantee you’ll be swamped again before you know it. This is a stressful industry, try your best to enjoy the moments of calm and don’t be hard on yourself.

Defense firms are getting their checkbooks out again and stopping trying to get that COVID discount on settlements. It’s been a long 2 years !

I’m M&A and I’ve slowed down a lot. Don’t be concerned, it’s early March. Still a lot of year left.

More just afraid that given recent salary raises, firms will look to trim fat, and the associates that aren’t staffed up will be easy targets.

I wish it was slow. Went from M&A season to securities season.

Don’t be concerned. I know this is easier said than done, but appreciate the slow months, cuz pretty soon you’re gonna be asking yourself why you ever looked a gift horse in the mouth.

Practice area?

I wonder if those in that huge surplus of M&A laterals really thought they were accepting long term employment.

Significantly on my end as well for commercial litigation.

Omg yes

OFFER HELP: Currently an L5 PM at Amazon making $80k (I came in as L4 hourly and we all know how tiny the bumps are). Just got an offer from Facebook (Meta) for a program manager role, base is 125k. Can someone help me negotiate when I’m already so blown away by and grateful for this offer? I know I’m supposed to, but given everything that’s going on in the world right now, I know I am IMMENSELY privileged already and it feels so greedy to ask for anything else.

How do you tow the fine line between sticking up for yourself and not talking back to a partner? For context, our firm has seemingly started making a paper trail for layoffs and I disagree with some of the emails that I have received. I want to respond in a way that covers my own ass. However, I don’t want to piss anyone off, especially if I have read the situation incorrectly.
