Socially you get along with them and would consider them as a friend. Still, professionally they're a nightmare, they lack in substantial experience in delivery, and their knowledge is outdated and not relevant to the programme.

My organization absorbed another and the former deputy PM became a branch head - a demotion. For org was more focused on tech dev and not delivering a product on a sked. New org is very focused on that. He is not a driving leader, but is the only one with the tech knowledge needed. He is retirement eligible. He has no heir apparent - previous org didn’t plan that way. If I move him under someone who is a driver - he retires and I lose the knowledge. If I don’t, we may not meet schedules. Advice?

The small firm I work for has a terrible turn over rate and I think it is in part due to the firm owner/managing attorney. He seems oblivious to this and always finds fault with the people who leave. Is there any good way to approach this with him or am I better off keeping my mouth shut?
