I feel you but you also have to understand that your friends may have different responsibilities than yours and their income may be very different. I have friends who work in public service, some lawyers, and teachers. I’m not going to ask them to get up and leave because I know their jobs and incomes are very different than mine. My lawyer friends are still paying their quarter mil of student loans. This was specially true early in my career when many were still trying to figure out their careers. It’s disappointing for sure but I’ve managed to travel on my own a lot and now I know which of my friends have that capacity (I will tell you it’s only a couple of them). That being said, where are we going? 😂

Well, get your bags and get moving. Solo life is not a bad life.

Same girl SAME! My favorite trips have been with my cousin and former significant other, but I can get my friends out occasionally. I would recommend a few things that you might not have even thought of: - Take trips to see friends who live in other places (it’s fun to live like a local and have your friends show you their favorite spots!) - See if any of your family members are down if you have any close cousins, siblings etc. - Local-ish weekend trips might be a great affordable option for your friend group. Lower cost and only requires a small commitment to maybe 1 day off from work. Look at places that are cheap to fly to off season

When I really wanted to travel and my best friend couldn’t afford it, I paid for her flight. I told her I’d pay for the hotels too, since I would’ve paid for it if I was traveling solo anyway. She brought her own spending money and I paid for the rest. It was worth it to have my best friend with me and I know she really appreciated it!

I do the same! Worth the memories

Yep most of my friends are broke as hell and it sucks. My one travel buddy just got pregnant. Happy for her and salty as hell at the same time.

You should consider solo traveling! Super fulfilling, fun and if you do it right you make a ton of new friends from all over the world.

There are also travel groups that cater to solo travelers. For the love of travel and Flash Pack are designed primarily for solo travelers (I think). There’s also other companies like Intrepid and G adventures. Don’t let not having company hold you back. I actually prefer traveling with only my SO since it can be difficult to coordinate on activities and itinerary with a larger group. Also, some of the people I’ve met throughout my travels are now new friends who we’ve visited after our trips are over or at least keep in touch and live vicariously through each other’s travel photos. I’ve done a couple g adventures trips to South America and Morocco with my SO but there were several solo travelers in our group. Have heard good things about the other tour companies though.

I agree it’s frustrating. I have a couple of friends who I travel with but sometimes it would be nice to do that with my other friends. My friends that are broke and never travel always want to spend tons of money on local restaurants which is really not my thing.

I’m lucky enough to have a few friends who like to travel but they all studied abroad in Europe and don’t want to revisit some places yet. For these trip I’ve relied on family. I’ve gone on a few trips with my mom and cousins and I probably don’t do all the things I’d do if I went on the trip with my travel friends but they’re still fun. It’s nice to take my mom places she’s never been and I got to take my 20 year old cousin abroad and she ended up studying abroad where we went because she loved it so much. I don’t think you need to travel with your best friend, just another person excited to see something new.

Also I have recently become aware of the REI trips that they do and they have under 35 ones if you’re interested!

Had another AD help my CW on a brief while I was on PTO for a couple of days, and is now refusing to get off the project and letting me do my job. I'm all for collaboration and appreciate the three hours he worked on it, but it's getting to the point that he's trying to steamroll me out of my own team and project by not letting me have any input on my own work. It's starting to really impact the output and dynamics. What do I do?
