Anyone else get an odd amount of pressure to not even think about using a mouse. I get directors who will literally call me out as if I’m an idiot bc I used my mouse for a couple things while sharing screen? Is this toxic or do I just need to get better?

Toxic

like

No. No one I work with cares at all how I use excel. They care about timeliness and quality. Anyone who does that doesn’t have enough work on their plate.

If you’re screen sharing and someone points out a faster way to do something, that’s entirely different.

like

Toxic lol, when I’m showing someone something in my laptop I usually defer to mouse because it’s easy to follow. Obviously ctrl pgup or down for tabs and stuff but to call someone out on that makes it seem like this job is just being a fast data monkey….

Oh wait

Lol you in Chicago?

funny

Ahhh good ole KPMG Chicago. Sometimes I miss it, but overall am happy I left. Too many tanks in that office.

some things are easier/faster with a mouse

like

Most things are easier/faster without a mouse. It’s ridiculous how many people don’t know simple keyboard shortcuts. It’s like people scrolling on their phone instead of touching the top to get to the top of the page.

Lol what? Directors will call you out for using a mouse? What absolute degenerates, do they also tell you to get a bathroom bucket for long Excel sessions?

funny

How are your excel skills outside of mouse vs keyboard? Maybe that comment was a projection of their overall assessment of your general excel skills.

like

probably a mix of both. truth is they’re probably being dicks and you can do better. it will help you in the long run. learn something they don’t know on the keeb to get them to shut up and you will benefit from it too. such as F5 AltS K 0 Enter

I helped a friend perform valuation and modeling work on an equity raise with his current company and want to put it on my resume. I don’t really want to put the company name as i wasn’t an employee, but I did perform the whole three statement and DCF to value the company and be presented to investors, so I want to list it on my resume and speak to the experience during an interview. Thoughts?
