You can’t anticipate every request, but you can rest confident in the knowledge that schtuff is *always* going to go sideways somehow, and take a solutions-oriented approach to get on with turning shitstorms into lemonade. It’s the nature of the beast. Don’t marry the plan ❤️

Well said! You’re setting yourself up for major stress if you get caught up in each bump in the road. Protect for what you can, try to cover for what you can’t, realize you cannot control everything and every one, and that is NOT part of your job. Journeys are always messy. 🤗
The job is manageable stress, I promise, even if it explodes in 10 directions. I’m an advocate of reaching out, even here, to ask questions or for help. How would you know how a rate for a precision driver if you’ve never needed one? We’ve all been there. Expect that your job will explode a little because it will. I’ve seen clients melt down on set & cost consultants make my line producer cry. What’s harder to navigate is when people don’t like you or when your working style doesn’t mesh with the team’s or client’s. It sucks, it hurts, but it happens. About constant changes don’t even sweat it. I had a team of clowns make me late to my own pre-pro because they wanted to tone down the fact the spot was SAG commercial. So they had me revise a prepro book the day of. And label it “Shoot Guide” instead of XYZ Pre-pro meeting. And video content instead of spot/commercial. Because it would be emotionally easier for the client. The Account side is run for the most part by geniuses if you haven’t noticed. Don’t worry and ask for help.
A change order because of a creative request should either be absorbed by the agency or passed onto the client. It’s certainly not because of bad producing or lack of preparedness.
Make the best plan you can. Execute to the best of your ability. Minimize chaos. You’ll be great.
Thanks everyone for your wisdom and for giving me some peace of mind. Literally re-read your comments every day to boost my spirits.
