Same. Retire as soon as possible. The grass won't be greener in other careers.

Retire. Manage my investments and pick up a side hustle periodically. My priorities have changed and this job isn’t winning.

Sadly my idea of a career move is going industry. In my head I think it’ll be “slower” and less of a grind. Not really sure how true that will be though..

like

I’ll do this for 20-25 more years and retire between 70 and 75

likefunny

Why 70-75? What’s your salary? Current NW?

Estimating 5 more years to reach comfortable retirement savings goal, which puts me in a quandary. Too long to sticking it out while to short to make a move. Maybe look for a palatable role internally to run out the clock (and collect safe paycheck). Maybe plan properly for another 10 year career. What to you guys think?

I exited after 20+ years. $100k base pay increase, better benefits; but definitely have more responsibility and the hours average 10-12 per day.

Considering a return to industry. Likely slightly more pay for vastly greater responsibility and accountability. Which makes me question the choice at this point in my life.

No one in consulting ever thinks this. This is an enlightening post. Thank you

Industry or a startup - the longevity at this firm is suspect. Really open to anything - and have considered a lateral move since the benefits suck where I am.

My full time job (not SMU) is literally making me sick-spent time at the ER. One associate quit and another is out of full paid parental leave (must be nice, I’m not paid for doing double the work)…so I’m now expected to do the work of 3 associates. My supervisor isn’t exactly understanding, and I don’t know what to do. I’ve been searching for jobs, but it’s difficult since my background is diverse and not focused on one area of law. If I quit, how hard is it to find a new job?

Anyone else think it’s weird / disheartening how many folks comment stuff that isn’t helpful? This hasn’t even happened to me, but I’m so sick of seeing the top comment on posts be “Google is your friend” or other joke replies on a lot of folks asking reasonable questions. Be helpful or keep scrolling.

Hearing about the ridiculous demands from the LA teachers union... Is anyone else frustrated with how political teaching has become? I'm not sure that I would teach at all if it was required to join the union. So sick of the pressure to back certain candidates, walk-outs, and viewpoints. My district has a negotiating body affiliated with the NEA, but it's voluntary to be a member. I'm glad to live in a state with options.

I work at a boutique that is not very well known, I went on sick leave for personal reasons, which they have been very supportive of. And while on it I received an opportunity to back to a big name I worked for before moving to the boutique. I've only been here for about 7 months. Would it look bad if I agreed to take the offer to boomerang? I'm very confused, everyone I know is saying I shouldn't do it.

Hey! I’m a self-contained teacher for grades K-2. This is my first year at the school I’m currently in, and apparently in the yearbook every year they have a class page solely for the handful of students in my classroom. They do this instead of putting my students in the yearbook page of the class they participate in for inclusion services. I feel like this is extremely wrong and violates some privacy laws. Do y’all have suggestions on how to bring this up with admin and the yearbook director?
