I work just enough so that I won’t be asked why my utilization is so low - try to hit 70-75 without working too hard. Maybe I’ll try for 80-85 the next week and rotate. If I hit 90+ I’ll ease off the following week. Seems to be working out so far lmao. Work the system friends! Just make sure the quality is good.

Tf, I’m in tax but like 70% in non tax season is good with me

I’m not falling for this one, corporate!!!

like

I need advice, how do you bill that time? Are you just very effective when you are working?

like

yup. I’m at PwC too and my alteryx workflows do the work much more efficiently. plus, I am not busy at all. a lot of tax consulting work has fell through for us

likefunny

Also how on earth do yall get away with that and keep adequate utilization 😂 would if I could

my utilization is around 50-80% any given week. automation of work using alteryx plus slow summer (at least in my group)

like

So if we learn alteryx over the summer, we can spend the Fall having it do our tax work for us. 👍👍👍

I am just as focused on work as when in the office, but during trainings or calls where I know I'm not helping to lead 100% chance I'm exercising, cleaning, or doing yard work. Truth be told I'm probably paying more attention than usual by not being distracted by email/timesheets/internet/chat/etc.

Does anyone have any insight as to when things are going to go “back to normal” in California in terms of needing to appear in person for smaller status conferences, hearings, depositions, etc. instead of doing it via zoom? I am permanently remote but a lot of my cases are in courts that are a good 1.5-2 hour drive from me and I’m starting to feel anxious about when I’ll have to start going in person for these types of things because of the distance.

Worked remote in another country last year and fell in love with it. Asked work for approval to live and work their remotely full time. I was told no and that no one is able to work out of the country because of taxes etc, which is fair. I later find out that I have coworkers who are lying about working in other countries and some who got approval to work in other countries. Yet I was told it was not allowed. Would you go to HR and be like wtf? Sounds like a rule that applies only sometimes.

Anyone start a new job remotely and have tips to feel more integrated into the team/agency? I left my previous agency of 7 years and am now 3 months into a new gig but feel really disconnected, especially now that work is picking up. Team/agency culture used to be what got me through busy periods but having trouble finding that now. Lots of video calls and 1 on 1s to check in but still siloed in my home office. We all work remote from different states so going into our NY office seems pointless.

Suggestions for a birthday gift for myself? My boyfriend has been asking for weeks & I keep saying nothing but he is not having it. I have a comfortable life & can’t think of anything other than a nice night out, which is already common in our relationship. I suggested a nice set of cookware because I enjoy cooking on our nights in but he jokes it’s a little too domestic. An engagement is already in the works so jewelry seems silly & I WFH so even high end shoes/bags can wait. Thoughts?
