Anyone in PWC London Digital & Cloud COE?
Does anybody have any advice when applying to postings with many applicants and getting noticed? The company I am interested in is Figma, and though I reached out to a few technical recruiters after applying through LinkedIn, I am wondering if there might be something more I could do that maybe I’m not thinking about. Also along those lines, if anybody here works for figma I would love the chance to connect
Hi Everyone,
I just received an offer to work as an software sales representative (SDR) for IBMs Z systems. I'm coming as a sales engineer in the cloud security space. Can anyone advise me on whether Z systems are something worth going into? Also what do the growth opportunities look like at IBM? Is there opportunity for lateral movement onto other teams? Not too sure how I feel about working on mainframes (Z systems) but they keep pitching hybrid cloud to me. IBM

One time I forgot to turn the “doom and gloom” off with a new hire. I had just gotten up from my desk headed to the first of several meetings that day. She’s introducing herself to people as the day is getting started. She says, “Hey, I’m B!” while extending her hand.
I replied, “Hey. I’m K. I’m headed to a day full of meeting and I hope I fall down the stairs on the way.” Oops.
One of my former bosses was scared my messages were going to leak to the press as if it wasn’t the story everywhere about the chip shortage taking out plants workforce’s.
I enjoy the new hire who thinks they have all the answers day 1
Oh I had to do the “continue saying okay and nod your head to everything” talking to my bosses near the end of my last role— when they sat me down to tell me about whatever they disapproved of me doing in a lot of 1:1’s i had with them.
They didn’t want to hear what I had to say only wanted me to listen. I was sick of only listening and not being listened to
I just let them stumble around until they figure it out on their own. Your method is probably kinder.
Not much stumbling around in a new workplace ran in video conference rooms.
People have limited time so they ask very pointed questions in zoom calls.
I think we're all susceptible to this lol. There have definitely been times when I've just wanted to project my reality...but then I'm like nahhh I'll let them figure it out haha
Oh yeah, I mean the best lies are closest to the truth. I try to eke out something about some aspect I like about something, but I keep it low key. But noooo I don't tell the truth no way.
LOL I've been guilty of doing this in the past and now I just keep quiet. Better to let people figure stuff out on their own versus you biasing them...and the smart ones always pick it up. The ones that don't...well, I don't think they last long anyway haha
oh man that's the worst, honestly...I try not to go TOO deep then, but enough that people know I've acknowledged they've said it, and try not to shut it down too hard because I want them too feel comfortable coming to me after. Basically, I like being everyone's secret keeper so I do try to keep the door open looolll
We are not paid enough to mentor them! Just be honest
