Anyone else hate it when managers and seniors say “thank you”? I’m only doing it because I have to, it’s not like I’m doing you a favor.

What a dumb post. Someone can literally post the same thing instead it can say "anybody else annoyed when your seniors and managers don't say thank you"? Chill

Thank you

I am going to take this to heart. Next time my staff does something, I’ll reply with “I’m happy you finally did your job.”

Would that work better for you?

likefunny

Life will be really stressful for you if you look at everything like that

likehelpfulfunny

I say thank you because I'm truly appreciative because while it's your job you're helping me get the job done. I'd rather be the one saying thank you than the prick demanding more and more until you throw up your hands and quit.

like

Thanks for the insight

Don't worry OP, they're prob saying sarcastically

likefunny

What should they say? They asked you to do something, you did it. They say thank you. Nothing to get bent out of shape about.

like

Next time they say “thank you” go ahead and tell them you only did it because you have to. They’ll appreciate the honesty.

I intentionally say "thank you" when (1) someone recognizes that I don't have capacity to do something and offers to help or (2) actually puts in enough effort that I don't have to rewrite the whole workpaper... having a "because i have to" attitude probably puts you in neither bucket which makes sense since you obviously don't get thanked often.....

likehelpful

“Thank you” in lieu of “I appreciate you taking pride in your workpaper and doing a good job and not just rolling numbers and updating dates while CY looks nothing like PY, thereby saving me time leaving an extensive RN that you will perceive as me being shitty and you telling all the other staff how much time I waste leaving RNs and not just fixing it myself”, so yes, thank you.

like

Ppl do it because most appreciate it. I certainly do

like

Oh, but you are because now I don't have to do it.

Thank you!

As someone who has had less then stellar staff in the past , when I say “thank you” it really is authentic. It feels good when staff are dependable.

what do you want them to say? nothing - then everyone cries about not being "appreciated"

Do you think it is time to find another job when your PIC is a micro manager, never trained you when you got hired, expects you to know things no one ever told you about in the first place, texts and calls you in the morning with questions you don’t have an answer to (I work evening shift so I’m mostly sleep when he reaches out), assumes the worst about everything, plots against you anyway, lies all the time, they don’t even do their job, they leave their trash behind etc. gives me anxiety.

While de-escalating a situation or dealing with a child having an outburst I tend to notice outside coworkers coming in my room to offer help or just check in. I find this doesn’t help it actually makes the situation worse. Would it be rude of me to send out an email asking them not to interrupt since it can make the situation work. I know most of the time it’s cause they are being nosy.

Pt. 1: Alright, here's my concern. I understand bus drivers are hard to come by. When you got 'em, you want to keep 'em. Our district is in short supply and we recently found out a player (players) on one of our athletic teams, along with a coach (coaches) has tested positive for Covid, OR been exposed. A few of us drivers recently drove this team to an away game within this past week yet none of us were notified if we might have possibly been the driver to one or more of these players/staff.

The only way too fix the shortage of drivers is to pay them a living wage. I'm a driver on my second retirement. I drive bus because I have a blast. The kids are great.
I have learned that there are a lot of drivers that are single mothers living at poverty level.
Our government sent money to teachers and left the transportation department out.
Bus drivers deserve better.
