Anyone else have an extremely painful sore throat (like swallowing razor blades) as a symptom of COVID? How long did it last/how did you treat it?

Tea and honey, and you MUST gargle with salted water at least 2-3 times a day, that’s what truly helped. I also avoided speaking on calls, I was basically out of commission for 5ish days bc that’s when I couldn’t even speak. I did feel like my throat was building up to it for about 3-5 days prior to it but I tried to manage it with just tea and honey, should’ve done the salt water gargle first lol

Highly recommend getting tea bags of lemon & ginger and peach green tea, mix with half a lemon, and add honey. I drank this every morning. At night I would substitute the peach green tea for chamomile. Definitely helped, along with Mucinex cough drops You’re basically making a “Medicine Ball” from Starbucks or Dutch Bros

Yes me omg it was SOOO bad! Mine lasted like 3 days (the worst of it) and then 2 more days of a mild sore throat. I had tea and honey which helped me a lot, Ricola candies, and also strangely gargled with warm salt water

Agree with this. The ricola that is filled with a soft honey center.

Me and a few friends I hung out with had that the week after thanksgiving and it ended up not being COVID for any of us. Sore throat, terrible cough, fever and body chills.

like

Yes. Like any other viral infection, COVID affects your immune system and makes you susceptible to opportunistic secondary bacterial infections like strep - this is also why lots of people get sinus infections a week or two after having a cold or the flu.

Yes, OP. I started showing symptoms Monday, I've had to call off all this week. Sore throat - strep like honestly. And a fever hovering between 100 and 102 all week. Just took a NyQuil 😴

I thought I had COVID last week with sore throat, headache, low grade fever, and night sweats but tested negative twice! I had strep throat. And maybe a cold?

like

AC, have you considered that you could also have strep throat? Strep throat must be treated with antibiotics. It’s not something to mess around with.

Amazing. We used to just get strep throat in the winter.

That was my first Covid symptom

It was my first COVID symptom too - came on a day or two before the headaches and brain fog and 3-4 days before I lost my smell / taste. The sore throat seemed to subside after 5 days or so, but I’m sure you’re seeing that everyone that’s had COVID has had a vastly different experience.

My throat was sore for 5 days straight with no other symptoms. Thought it was really strange was sure it was covid. Turned out to be a cold...

I did about a week ago! Very scratchy but started getting raw after a few days. My spouse also has it now. 4 Covid tests between us. All negative.

Could be flu

Yes but mine only lasted a day or two but I also had very mild symptoms…very mild exhaustion and loss of smell and taste.

Chloroseptic is 🙌

Yea, me and all my friends who tested positive this week had sore throat as first (and worst) symptom …

We’ve returned back to office, but joined the team during COVID. Surprised management hasn’t gone around to introduce themselves to the new staff that has returned on the floor. How do you guys normally approach it? Taking initiative and introduce yourself to the Group Heads? Maybe it’s me, but I tend to get nervous talking to group heads or senior senior people.

At my old firm, I would wear my faux leather spanx leggings with heels/booties and a nice top/blazer that covered my butt. Since covid, we dressed more casually. I’m now at a new firm. Are these leggings generally acceptable to wear in office?

Literally me anytime I come to this thread and see partners saying they can’t possibly take a 15-20% cut on their $1M+ salary, meanwhile there’s staff out here making $56k; or, when I see that most of y’all don’t understand basic science, including the fact that young people are a source of exposure and transmission of not just COVID-19, but of all viruses, in turn placing those who are immunocompromised, have preexisting conditions, or elderly at much greater risk. Y’all really do be wilin’.

So, I‘ve been chatting with a girl for a few months since this whole COVID thing started. She’s really cool and we get along great. Last week we met up in person and ended up “having fun”. The only thing is she basically has no boobs. Just nipples on her chest. I couldn’t tell before because we had only vchatted, but now I don’t know if I can get over it. I like big boobs. Should I tough it out and try and get over it, or just move on to another girl?

Friends, I’m looking for a few good sources to help my clients *feel* how the COVID crisis is affecting the Latinx community, especially “less acculturated,” Spanish-dominant folks in the US. Could be a podcast episode, photojournalism, artwork, an op-Ed. I have lots of numbers and stats, but I need help finding something more evocative than hard-to-feel-real percentages. Much appreciated!

Roughly 2 1/2 years in consulting, with promo conversations looming around the corner, is the title change really a big necessity to make a meaningful comp jump or is experience/framing sufficient when making a move? While I haven’t enjoyed it from the get go, consistent 60+ weeks (exacerbated with COVID) have really triggered a realization that a more reasonable WLB is absolutely my target. To the extent a bump could coincide with that...just gravy

My friends were supposed to get together soon for a bachelorette party. One of the girls did not get vaccinated and now has Covid. She and the others are still going to continue with plans because it will have been right at around 3 weeks after she tested positive. I’m wondering if I should still go because my boyfriend is a cancer survivor, and his type never goes away so he’s higher risk. Bf and I are both vaccinated. Is 3 weeks enough time/are we good since vaccinated?

Have a 1 bedroom apartment in Gold Coast that I’m looking to sublet from Nov - Apr as I will be moving to a different city at the end of the month. I just got invited to a dinner meeting with 20 other consulting professionals from my new office. It’s going to be an indoor dinner and there’s nothing on the invite indicating whether this is optional or mandatory. Here’s the thing: I’m pregnant - fully vaccinated, but I’ve still been trying to be really careful about Covid - no indoor dining, always masking indoors. I don’t actually know anyone at the office yet and don’t want to come off as contrary… Any advice on how to handle?
