We’ve definitely had a lot of kids ask to switch but we don’t have the space so they aren’t. There’s a waitlist to get into traditional. They only get a spot when someone switched to online
We get several kids back almost every day because the kid either wasn't doing the work, was failing, or learning on their own was too hard. And, im sorry, but if you know your kid you should know if they are 1) smart enough and 2) responsible enough to learn through virtual school where there isn't an in-person teacher. I mean, come on. Seriously?

Ours are not allowed to switch until next semester (January). How that's going to work without overloading classes? I'm not sure. (We lost teachers due to budget cuts)
This has been happening in my building for the past month due to parents not wanting to help their children do the online work.
sounds like job security
We have actually seen the opposite! At the beginning of the year in September, parents were given the option to have their child be 100% online/virtual, or the Hybrid model of 2 days per week at school (decided by last name initial). In October, there was a large increase of students staying home & signing in online when their parents had chosen the Hybrid route. This created all sorts of attendance issues, as well as safety issues if there were to be a drill or actual emergency. The district recently sent out an email & letter to parents again asking them to commit to one form of education or the other, and to stick to that choice for the remainder of the semester. Otherwise, their child will be counted absent if they are not medically required to be home (isolation or quarantine).
