Anyone else have associates that do a half ass job and just get rolled off the project? They didn't even finish their last task and got put on the bench.

Going to see more of that now that recruiting standards have slipped in this environment

This thread is making me feel more optimistic that I can enter at associate or senior associate role and be productive lol.

I had a SA (pwc, not s&) who I told “title of document is spelled wrong. Please fix it”. The guy can’t find the misspelled word. This was via email, so he had plenty of time to Google the 7 words in the document name. That’s one of many stories. He also introduced himself with a “I got fired from my last job...” on his first day. I can’t believe this guy is getting paid 100k. We rolled him off in 3 weeks and he honestly only lasted that long because I defended him to the Manager. honestly he deserves to be fired.

funny

People not knowing how to use excel or overall communication. I had an associate that didn't know how to write a proper email even when I spell it out for them.

I’m preparing to put my two weeks in at work. I’m not worried about leaving the company, but I’m nervous about leaving my team while we’re knee-deep in a project. I’ll be around for shooting and early editing our commercial (which is the bulk of the campaign), and I’m definitely able to hand off other small tasks, but I can’t help but feel anxious to tell them I’m leaving. Is this a normal feeling?

Am I overreacting? My former boss texted me last night asking if I would be able to work on a landing page project over the night. For some context I left the company a month ago because I was severely underpaid and with no benefits. I’m 30 and I’ve been there for over 5 years paying for health insurance out of pocket and a 50k salary. I offered to help with a few side projects but now I feel like he’s leaning on me again and thinks because I’m so nice I’ll say yes and slave away for him anytime

It's the little things that may me die inside and I wonder if the partners notice. I forget to capitalize a word in a email subject title. I was typing so fast, I forgot a word in another email. Like how do I fix this when spell check doesn't catch it?!?!? Like there are million of things I'm trying to do and I do not realize it until I've already hit send. Fortunately, I'm a regulatory attorney. So, it's mostly client investigations and assistance with due diligence. But, still. Ugh.

I’ve been struggling with the future of my career lately. I’ve been a business analyst in fed software dev projects for 5 years now. The natural progression would be to become a PM in a similar project. I’ve fortunately been given many opportunities to try out some “lead” roles at my current firm. I’ve tried it...and I just don’t like it. Doesn’t fit my personality or give me any satisfaction. I like working more on the “ground” and learning from developers. But I know I could be making cont.

Alright, I confess: I’m just starting my second year as a manager (first in a new office I transferred to last November), and I’m feeling more and more exposed to the point where I know that others (staff, seniors, partners, and the client) know that I don’t know shit. Feels like I’m caught off guard in conversations on a routine basis. How has everyone else been able to get more comfortable with being uncomfortable when it comes to dealing with new accounting issues for a new client?

Art director presents idea we were both tasked to do. The entire concept is mostly my idea, and has a key element that she did not like and almost refused to add. I basically pushed her to add it. It’s that part that the client actually loved, and when the meeting ended, everyone thanked her and congratulated her, and she said “thanks”without giving me a mention. Even our cd and account folks. Should i let it go?

What happens if I stop weightlifting for a month? How much progress will I lose? I’ve been training six times a week - 3 days running and 3 days lifting. I’m getting burnt out. I have a 10K race coming up (registered and all) so I don’t want to stop running. I started weightlifting in March but really committed in May/June. My lifts (3x10 reps) are currently: squat 115, bench 70, deadlift 90. I’m 5’1 125 lb female if it helps. I don’t want to lose all my progress but I need some type of a break

Back to an almost empty gym for the first time after 18 months of at-home work outs. Pros - Bench press only down 20% from 2020 - Got to judge people’s gym attire again (shout out to my dude doing curls in a weight vest) - Sick chest pump on peck deck Cons - No bros to share aforementioned chest pump with - Squat down 40% since 2020 - Can’t walk rn

just told I need to reduce my charge hours from 45 to 40 / week. Not reducing my work scope, just amount of time I can charge. I know I shouldn't be angry, given that the bench is huge, but still sad

Accenture 🐠, can you help explain the different roles and their typical seniority levels? - Client Account Lead - Client Group Lead - Market Unit Lead - Senior Client Executive I would expect a CAL manages an account relationship and report into a MUL, but I see there are a few aligned to geographies. Just trying to understand the organisation structure better. Thanks.

Fellow 🐠 in MBB - there is a belief in a few consultants that being a part of MBB is the main goal at any cost. Being on the inside and having seen, through this application or your networks, what other firms do, do you think this belief is healthy? Would you consider your work to be just as enjoyable at another firm? If not, where do you think other firms fall shy of the MBB.
