How to negotiate salary offer at a startup given the following. Offer is -$5k my current salary, but I'm up for promotion in a few months which would bump me +~$10-15k, also have an offer from their direct competitor but it's -$10k my current salary since they are earlier stage. Do I have any leverage to negotiate the original offer or no?
Going up for senior consultant this year in Deloitte’s cyber risk practice within GPS. What salary range can I expect from this promotion? Currently, I’ve been with the firm for nearly two years...
Does anyone know how/where to find market data for salaries? I’m a risk consultant in public accounting and am trying to find data to make a case that I should be paid more (my recent raise was disappointing).
Remember the pilot episode of The Office when Michael calls Pam into his office and pretends to fire her? That happened to me today.... BUT I GOT A RAISE AT THE END.
Expecting a promotion coming soon. Want to buy a nice bottle. Suggestions are welcome! Here is my list so far that I’m thinking about. Redbreast 21 Hakushu 12 + Yamazaki 12 Any $300 ish Octomore
Random thought... My gay male context plus the pandemic has amplified the "this isn't worth it" view of my unbalanced work life balance. I am never going to have kids and don't need to keep grinding for the next promotion etc. like my head of household peers with children. Do you feel the non-traditional household / income demands that LGBTQIA+ we live with are making you more easily say "enough is enough" with work as the valuation of our time has increased during the pandemic? 🤔
Does anyone know if Starwood does a global promotion for the Fall? If so when does it usually start?
Any copywriters here who have published novels? I'm set to finish my 4th rewrite by end of year and hopefully shop it around soon. If I manage to get it published, you think I could translate it into a raise somehow? Also, would love any general advice -- on querying, on finding beta readers, or craft books you'd recommend. Save the Cat is my plotting bible, and I also love Self-Editing for Fiction Writers. Any other recs?
A senior manager sent out an email to all of PwC about not being promoted. Blamed being black and not being born in the USA for it. However promotion is never guaranteed and becomes increasingly difficult the higher you go. Yet everyone wants to talk about race and inequality because this person was black. Seriously tired of the gymnastics people do to somehow relate it to color, instead of other factors.
Do laterals make you look like you failed to get a promotion? I’m up for promotion, have a great story and strong performance; a good opportunity to lateral came up at a much better firm - but promotions are so random and shrouded in secrecy at my company that I kinda want to join a better firm while I can.
I think I'm mentally checking out of work. All the pursuits I was leading (and which were building my case for promotion to manager) are falling through either because of clients having put everything on hold or because the requirements necessitating the work are being waived... my jaw has been locked now for 2 days 😬
Anybody leave big law for a couple of years to raise your kids and successfully rejoined the legal field? Is big law ever an option again?
Not dick measuring but really curious on what the % raise you've gotten the past 2 years. Gotten 4% and 3% here and feeling like I'm getting screwed over.
Internally transferred into FDD as an audit senior 3. My coach and partner have indicated that I’m still eligible for promotion to manager based on years of experience. I’m trying to gauge the actual likelihood of this happening. Obviously firms bring in audit managers at the manager level with no FDD experience but would love to know if it’s possible/likely to be promoted to manager with less than a year of experience. I’d advise anyone in audit to transfer sooner rather than later!
If you started working at a company for like a year as a staff level, for example 2019-present, and this is reflected on LinkedIn, do you guys update any promotions to show it as (the date or year of promotion) -present... or just show it as 2019-present? I’ve seen people do the latter more but is that even right?
If I accept the promotion to Partner/Principal what's the least number of years I could work without it being a financial mistake. I have an opportunity to do something completely unrelated that's my passion, but I feel like that's the wrong decision when I'm this close. The other opportunity should still be there for 2-3 years
What kind of $/% jump did you receive with your promotion from associate to senior? Coming up on a review and want to be prepared. NJ/NY area
Started a new job on January 25, 2021. Reviews and promotion packets are due at the end of the month. You can only submit a review and promotion packet if you’ve been with the company since December 31, 2020. I’ve gotten very positive informal feedback from my manager and other colleagues. Should I push to have a review/promotion packet now even tho it’s only been 3 months?
Counselor and SM on engagement say they'd recommend me for a promotion to M this year. Should I keep my hopes up? Or is it just a mid-year kumbaya coz I'm still S2 with 6 years of exp and master's.
When it comes to recruiting, is it good for the industry when the first word out of HR is "diversity" and not "talent?"
What are you thoughts on splitting shared expenses 50/50 or proportionate to income with SO? What if both make over $175k but there is still a significant % delta (30%+)? Mid 20s, bought a condo together (split 50/50) and will likely get engaged soon.
Hi McKinsey 🐟 Compared to the Associate role, is the Associate Implementation more role change management implementation or tech / tools coding focused, or neither? Is there a difference in comp?
If I don’t get a H1B in my last attempt. I have to leave the country. Can I still continue to trade in this country with my SSN and file taxes for my gains in the market here?
I needed some advise. This is my last attempt on H1-B lottery. I was planning on initiating my H1b lottery from an outside consultancy as well along with my current employer so that I have better chances. I wanted to check if that is legal and I can have multiple H1b filings from different employers? Thanks.
I’m launching a Slack group for in-house counsel to network, share resources, and job opportunities. If you’d like an invite send me a DM!
Chris Krebs was fired at DHS today... very bad move and it’s gonna take a while for his replacement to gain the same trust and confidence within the cybersecurity community. January 20th can’t come soon enough.
Recently downloaded the United airlines app and can’t see my mobile boarding pass. Am logged in under my Mileage Plus account but it only gives me the option to get my boarding pass through email. Customer service was hot helpful.
Salary at 32.27
Why are teachers quitting the profession? “…it breaks you. We become emotional eaters. We become couch potatoes to zone out. We become so short fused that our families suffer.” And ultimately, that’s what led Gentry to walk away from her retirement and 46 paid sick days. “I didn’t leave for better pay,”…
Can anybody suggest any books or resources to get smart on medical device marketing and/or medical device manufacturing?
Asking for a Fordham Media Studies graduate! What are the best ways of getting into the industry now? It's incredibly hard for graduates because of Covid.
An MBA from top B-School (IIM A/ B/ C), previous work experience in FMCG sales, currently in one of the Big 4s and in a very bad FMCG sales transformation projects ? Looking for opportunities in marketing, product management etc. any leads or advice would be helpful.
Is a stainless steel datejust with jubilee/fluted bezel too flashy to wear at client site? My client is an insurance company and we’re doing analytics strategy
Had lower utilization this year than normal due to being rolled off and on different engagements with downtime in between. Nothing performance-related. Even though it was out of my hands (cont)
