1099 jobs always makes you pay back. Uber and taxi jobs are contract jobs.

Yes, NY PFL is taxable and no withholdings held and short term disability is taxable with no withholdings held. Maternity leave screwed me this year. BIG tax bill.

Did you make claims on your W2 last year?

Something must have changed for you.
Pretty much same as last year

Hello All,

Can anyone please help me here.
I have made my tax payment in July 2022 but yesterday (15 Nov 2022) I receive an email that tax payment is due for assessment year 2022-23

I called to help desk and he advised to raise rectification request from Tax portal and update the challan number. I tried to raise request but need to upload some XML or json file there. I am not sure how to upload or modify that file.

Does anyone know what steps need to follow as I already made my tax payment.

I am a 23 yo civil engineering new grad (May 2021) doing QC at a construction company making $76,980 + moving bonus and good benefits. I’m also an immigrant (this is important because my family depends on me for money) and living in a HCOL state (OR) after the company moved me from Texas. I have about 18k in personal debt and made the mistake of renting a 1bed1bath with a pretty high rent ( lesson learned I’m getting a roommate next time)

I am 31. I have $750k in assets and 400 in liab. Net worth is 350. Largest assets (excluding real estate) are 120k in 401k, 40k in brokerage, 20k in crypto, 25k cash. Own property totaling $550k (2 condos) but debt of 350k so 200k of my net worth is in real estate. Student loans of 30k. Thread continued 👇🏽

Is it a good move to do a Roth conversion during the leave of absence? Also how exactly would the conversion be taxed? TIA!

Question regarding tax saving -
I had bought medical insurance for my my parents and I on 17 Feb 2022 with 38K premium. Can I add this deduction in FY22-23 tax declaration.
PS - I have to show proof of payment by Jan 2023 and the next premium won't be paid before Feb. So how do I use this insurance for tax savings?

Are there options trading coaches or mentors? I’ve done well in stocks trading, have basic knowledge of derivatives from the BComm in Finance and various books/online resources.
But I feel like I’m really lost in the actual practical aspect of options trading and would love to learn directly from someone who’s experienced and successful in it. Preferably someone who’s smart about risk-minimizing strategies.

Newer to the game compared to many of you, trying to decide if splitting 401k contribution between traditional and Roth is worth it.
Let’s assume I am not in a higher income tax bracket at retirement (current base is 100). Is it still worth it to split contributions between Roth or traditional (6% trad to get match, rest would be Roth)? Some different proportion split? TIA.

Hi all, I am early in my career in Tech. 23 years old but very concerned with CA rising housing cost. I’m based out in the Walnut Creek area but understand that houses go 2Million+ in the Bay. Thoughts on getting whole life insurance and taking a loan out against around age 35? Thinking I can leverage an aggressive savings approach this way and use the FHA loan. Any ideas? Pros/Cons to this?

My father took a home loan, and the same home is kept as mortgage.
I'm paying arround 22k emi for the same but unable to exempt tax as the loan is on my father's name.

I googled a lot how to transfer it but neither gift deed nor sale deed would work as the property is on mortgage that's under bank's ownership (until loan is fulfilled).
Tax is also getting deducted, I'm paying hefty emis.
What can I do?
Please advise 🙂

Just transferred from IT Audit to Strategy and Transactions. Been a goal of mine for a while so I’m happy to see it play out. Not posting just to say I did it, but because I’ve been following this bowl for a while and see people get negative about being pigeon holed. There were tons of transferable skills that I was able to highlight that got a role that’s completely different, so I just don’t want anyone feeling discouraged if they’re hitting walls.

Is it normal for an agent to ask for my financials before a sales contract is signed with the seller? For context, this co-op apt has been on the market for about a year. Seller had two previous buyers that were rejected by the board. From what I was told, the board was not unreasonable. But the seller (and the agent) wants to make sure I was qualifiable, I suppose, which is why they asked. From my POV, I'm giving up a lot of sensitive info when there's nothing binding. Seems out of order.
