Yes, I realized within the first three months that I wouldn’t be staying. I paid off my loans and then stayed until I was a fifth year. It never got easier or more bearable, but I became accustomed to it a little bit (for better or worse). I’m really glad I stayed as long as I did because of the freedom that what I was able to save provides me with. I’m sure this is a similar experience for biglaw associates.
Feeling similar, but I also can’t decide yet what impact the past year/pandemic has had on my ambition. I suspect it is significant.
I feel the same way, but I think it’s had a significant impact on my priorities as well.
Rising Star
Respectfully, two months in a 100 year pandemic is not nearly enough time to throw in the towel, especially if this is your first professional job. I know this is a brutal time. That’s so for all of us but most especially for first years. Try your best to give it another year before you make any major judgments. The signs are positive for a return to normalcy. If you still hate your job after we’re back on a normal path, you then can examine and pursue other options.
