Anyone else realize that the only reason people put up with the business model of public accounting is that we all worked together and could complain together, stay up late together all while forgetting that we are working 80+ hours in addition to a commute. Then when the pandemic hit, we opened up our eyes to the actual work itself and how much time we spent at work and getting to and from work? This is the reason why all firms want staff back in the office so they can create that again?

I did not enjoy the complaining together, staying up late together, or commuting in the beforetimes.

I see it as grad school. As a person who went industry, I will tell you honestly there is no opportunity for personal growth in industry. There's simply not enough repetition and complication to really learn anything.

PA is grad school. You gain knowledge and experience to become the professor (partner) or go industry (graduation). If you see it as anything else, you won't have a good time.

That's how I got through it. I did it because I needed to. Without it, I wouldn't be able to have the job I have today.

You can still have PA and the learning opportunities without going into the office.

Isn’t now the best time to start your own business? There is a shortage of labor so firms/companies can’t handle all the work and so there should be plenty of opportunities out there. If you succeed, great! If you don’t succeed then at least you learned how a business works and all the admin that comes with it and the labor market should still be good for you to find a job again if that’s the route you want to take.
