Has anyone resigned while on a medical LOA?
Was anyone deciding between medical school and consulting? I've taken a detour from pursuing medical school to go into consulting. Idk if I'm making a mistake or not after reading Fishbowl.
I lost my last job a few weeks before Christmas last year and it took me a long while to find a new one. Ultimately I ended up moving to a new city for a job I was really excited about. However, within the first few weeks I suffered a major medical setback which led to a crippling bout of depression. I am finally starting to feel like a person again but I'm afraid the ship has sailed on my having success in my new role.
Have workshop I'm leading in a few hours, have not slept because of nerves and feel sick. Clients love me but I still have so much anxiety. Does this ever end?
I have two Big Pharma Associate Director job offers: 1) Medical Affairs, 2) R&D Strategy. Which function in Biopharma offers the best career trajectory? I’m a MD with 2 YOE in consulting.
Ladies - any recommendations for a place to get laser hair removal in NYC? Thinking about getting it done for my lower legs since I'm sick of shaving constantly and nothing seems to work.
I am on track to FI/RE in 9 years at age 42. But I am burnt out. Considering stepping away for 6 months to a year to do something cool, but don't want to fuck up fi/re. Help me see the forest through the trees? I've been a delayed gratification kind of person my whole life. Sick of waiting.
I’m mentally breaking down because I have been doing a job of a scheduler, PM, notetaker, regulatory submissions, and thus have no room for growth to work on strategy. I’m an AS and I am so sick of having to remind everyone because no one looks at my notes, recaps, and no one remembers anything from any meeting. Recently because I’m so exhausted I started making more “mistakes” like not catching a mistake on a submission. Is this because I suck or is it time for me to move off? I feel terrible.
Anyone sick of the immaturity of our industry due to the significant portion of our staff getting younger and younger?
Breakthrough thought: instead of lying and saying your sick, take a sick day for mental health reasons. 99% you need it
Struggling with anxiety...anyone gone to a medical professional for this? Do you just go to a primary care doc first and then get a referral?
I have a legit medical exemption for the Vax. Does this mean I cannot go into the office and client cite? Will I be forced to work from zoom? Also will everyone think I’m antivax and judge me?
I am sick of networks pretending to be 50/50 but hiring just men in C suite creative positions. “Let’s promote men and then hire women to work under them, that will change the ratio.” 🖕
I billed 70 hours last week and today i won a $10 gift card from our busy season bingo. What a sick busy season bonus!!!!
I have flu like symptoms, but can’t get tested for covid and getting a doc appt seems impossible. Do I basically need to wait until I’m critical or extremely sick to see someone? Any experience here?
I just joined Accenture, and I was told that I need to ask my manager for permission and justification for a Mac. Do I need to wait until I’m assigned to a project, or should I just ask my normal manager? Also, am I good to just start downloading tech (Python, Sublime, etc.) I need for my job, or do I have to wait for that?
Is the interview process to get into IBD harder or easier than top consulting firms like BCG/McKinsey/Bain? Where do the truly smart people work nowadays?
Any Accenture UK folks in this bowl? I have a phone interview and could use some pointers!
Wilson Sonsini Remote Positions - Anyone have any experience with these or work with those remote only (or other BL that have remote only positions)? Debating applying to a position or two to move back closer to family and the practice areas offered seem pretty interesting (and related enough to M&A) to justify giving it a shot...
Currently working as SM2 at PwC and interviewing with KPMG for a D position. Is is a good comparison in terms of designation? How’s the comp for D in KPMG? T2 city here. I have been with EY in the past and can vouch PwC offered a better WLB and culture. Always heard KPMG has better WLB and culture. Is it just a speculation or have some truth in it? Strategic Advisory FSS role, 8.5 YOE, masters.
If you sent a subordinate an article that you thought might be related to their current project and they responded with, “Thank you. Very Interesting.” Would you consider that rude? Edit: I am the replyer in this scenario
I joined consulting before covid and really enjoyed the lifestyle (travel, events, socializing, afterworks). I’m young and it was a lot of fun. Now this lifestyle has been gone for two years and the only lifestyle is teams calls. I feel..bored? But bored is not the word. What do y’all do outside of work, during the week? My weekends are fun but my week is just work and teams calls… I’m 22 and I don’t wanna stay at home all day!!!! I wanna see the world
Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
So with all the chat on here about how easy it is to get hired, are you as a hiring manager putting more emphasis into screening and challenging interviewees than before as a response? I ask because I successfully went through an interview process and have no idea how a candidate who wasn’t well versed in the cases, practice, and even consulting exp would be able to pass.
For people who have moved from India to the US, how different was the experience? I'm a software engineer. I want to know your feelings about differences in company culture, interviewing, and processes among other things.
I am already serving notice at my current location and can able to join within 30 days. I am looking for a opportunity in SAP SD role. Having 11 years of experience. It will be a great help if you guys refer me in your respective company.
Can anyone smarter than me help me figure out why I was charged NY income tax as a Texas resident? I was hired in August and paid out a hefty signing bonus that was taxed at the New York income tax level because the firm incorrectly mapped my home location there. None of my work was performed there and I don’t live there. Now the firm is refusing to payback the paid NY taxes?
Here goes it! Driven F 🐠s between 34-40. Anyone out there looking for sth meaningful with yngr M (30) who is driven but not enough to chase consulting ladder? Age filters on apps making this hard!!
Been severely struggling with depression and anxiety lately. Obviously this job is one big reason why. I opened up to the partner a few months back about it when I started missing random days when I couldn’t get out of bed. Maybe 2/3 days over the last 4 months total. This week he sat me down and told me he is worried about my mental health causing me to be a “liability” to the firm. I can’t stop thinking about this and don’t know how to turn it around.
Today my boss asked me if I was okay, and I just burst into tears. It wasn't even in person either, it was over bloody Slack. Wtf is wrong with me?
Thoughts on Pereira in NYC? It’s probably mostly WFH right now but generally speaking what’s the vibe, especially in Production?
