Yes, it’s so annoying because if you manage change well, no one notices! I actually find more resistance from within our firm than from our clients.
Having this issue right now with my lead! He thinks I’m an extension of PMO even when I have several projects to support and deliverables to complete. I really think if he got a decent PMO team he would leave me alone. Somehow it’s my job to plan team events. I’m also the only female lead so it’s frustrating from multiple angles
We’re not doing cleanup efforts anymore. Our tech people will have to figure things out on their own if they don’t bring us in at the start of an engagement.
Change management for implementations is the worst. Otherwise, I love it. It’s easier to get people to appreciate change when you’re not cramming a system down their throats.
The struggle is real
We will always have to explain our value. Just make sure you do it in the beginning to avoid the back and forth later. I find that we don’t always communicate our value... we just expect people to get it. We will always have to sell it, both internal and external.
In my experience if the value of CM isn’t baked into the business case at the outset of the project it’s nearly impossible to get anyone to see the value of it until things go off the rails and by then CM becomes a clean up effort.
I infer you’ve not been given a CM ROI tool. The OD profession never created one and look how they drifted off into inconsequence.
Really? I find on my projects that change is greatly valued
Current project things change is an admin function. Excuseee me
A2, as the only female, you gotta push back on that planning team events thing. Rotate the responsibility with other male leads at your level. Talk openly with the team & your lead about it. They likely don’t realize their bias or appreciate how much you’re doing. (Al least, I hope so!)
I have usually been CALLED IN for change Mgt/OCM. Only way to get buyin downstream. Surprised execs try to do without it.
Whoever is running the project hasn't fucked up enough or admitted they fucked up enough without it.
