Anyone else so motivated to succeed that it’s… painful? An insanely powerful motivation (maybe obsession?) to do everything right and meet your goals. How do you turn that off (or do you turn it off) outside of work hours - whatever those are.

Dear lord I hope you don’t unleash this motivation on the people that work with you

Nah I tell them to not work so hard then do it myself.

Quite the opposite - I’m motivated to ✨coast✨. At least that’s my attitude towards my career

The day you realise that in the grand scheme of things, you are just a little dot living life.

Not everyone needs to be the next 10m/1bil or the 1% . It’s okay to be in the top 10-20% and okay to be average/above average. Realise that this is the reality and you will be much happier

Weed.

You turn it off by realizing that work is a means to an end, nothing more. When you lose or screw up something that’s important to you personally because you let something work-related take precedence over your personal life, it’ll hit you like a ton of bricks.

Working to make someone else wealthy is always a losing proposition, even if it pays the bills. If your only life goals revolve around your job, it’s time to re-evaluate them.

Boss has WFH for 9months. I have been WFH for 2-weeks for travel quarantine/state guidelines. She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?
