You guys getting your legal assistant anything for Valentine’s Day? I was thinking something small. She’s single and I know most women (myself too) appreciate a little something on this Hallmark holiday.
Fucking tired of this rat race. Been working for 11 years and just got laid off, CD said they "couldn't give a reason". Been let go a bunch of times, had boring or mean clients, toxic coworkers, underpaid, under utilized, more bad times than good. I love design but being a professional sucks, and if this first decade is how it goes I wont survive the next 20 or 30 years. Taking time off while I figure out my next move, will probably be entrepreneurial. Anybody else in this boat?
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/05/technology/parents-time-off-backlash.html As a non-parent, I get why it’s important to provide some accommodations to workers with parents and am in full support of parental benefits. The employees complaining about this seem to be entitled and spoiled. What is the bowl’s take on this article?
Why are salaries in Europe so much lower vs the US? US compensation is literally double the one in Europe.. Even in big cities like London and Paris. Not to mention the redicolous amounts paid in Spain or Italy
Does anyone here work for a state university’s GC office? Considering lateraling as a 3rd year litigation associate to a university’s GC office. It’s clear the work life balance would be better (SET office hours and no working late) but trying to decide if the benefits outweigh the pay cut. At the firm there is no set vacation day amount per year, just get your work done. Wondering if that’s similar in the GC world. Any advice or comparison from firm life to university GC would be appreciated.
Big Law Dads: How much time do you usually take off when your wife has a baby? And do you actually get to take off, or do you just end up working from home half the time? My wife is due Mid-December, and I’m staffed on 4 M&A deals trying to close by year end, so it’s not looking promising.
Contemplating move from EY to KPMG. Would appreciate someone pointing out the benefits difference - PTO for Manager level - Sick leave? - Paternity leave - Do you have to use PTO for the summer and winter holiday shutdown? - Any wellness $$? - Any cellphone and Internet reimbursement? Also, I've heard about a pension plan Anything else KPMG offers?
I’m giving my notice on Monday. I’m looking for advice on: - Checklist of things to do, both before Monday and within next 2 weeks - Tips on convo informing Counselor / Manager - Anything else that’s good to know / not well known
Anyone have any luck with a fourth IUI medicated cycle? RE recommended three cycles before moving to IVF, but we planned a much needed vacation that will fall right in the middle of an IVF cycle, so decided to do a fourth IUI so we don’t lose the month.
Has anyone ever considered or thought of negotiating based on not going to use maternity leave? **I know this opens up a world of possibilities, namely men being able to do this every time but just curious how non-moms feel about one of their "benefits" being a maternity leave that youll never use**
Any COVID friendly trip ideas? In need of time off but want to put vacation days to good use!
Do you ever negotiate on PTO? Any stories here?
Interesting statistic I just saw: Today 50% of women aged 30 do not currently have children. This is the highest it’s been since they began keeping records of it. 🤯
Where would you vacation with a 7 month old? Thinking Oahu or another beach island like Puerto Rico, but concerned about travel, safety, convenience with infant
If anyone is looking to make the jump out of consulting, FBI is hiring Forensic Accountants across the country on fbijobs.gov. My friend was able to get a salary match and match on her PTO and loves the mostly 40 hour work weeks and overtime/comp time if she goes over that.
Idk if anyone can related but I am *so* tired of the responsibility that comes with being the oldest. I’m not even 30 and my single parent is putting so many parental responsibilities on me. If I don’t pay for my siblings, we don’t go on family vacations. If I don’t plan the vacation start to finish, we don’t go. If I don’t hound my siblings to do their work, their failure is on my head. It’s been like this since childhood and I’m getting so exhausted and feeling some animosity.
Advice needed: got an offer but have a week of vacation already planned in April. Would it look bad if I ask the new employer to try and accommodate? This company is unlimited PTO btw (yes I know it sucks)
Where is a new build???

Anyone have a good company that does well with corporate gifts / virtual activities on a quarterly basis? We’ve worked really hard this year on my small team and want to give something to team members that we can use together (wine tastings etc) or even do on our own and then talk about it later
Does anyone else find it troubling that firm holidays are not factored into our utilization targets? Think those 12 days should be removed from the CSH 🎯 denominator we're judged by at YE.
Just curious: 1) How much is your rent? 2) City you live 3) Salary - just want to get a feel of how some people spend money on rent against salary.
Can we please make the group decision to not talk about politics here? This app is about discussing what we have in common as consultants—we should be able to come here to escape the horsefuckery.
Hey EY and BCG folks - what do you think about our CEOs being official Trump advisors now? I completely dislike that we are normalizing this racist misogynistic muslim-ban person.
That feeling when you've been texting your manager's work phone instead of mobile and wondering why he hasn't been responding on urgent matters 😅😅
Can someone explain to me (in layman’s terms) the difference between an HMO and PPO? Which is better?
