Question for folks at IPG agencies. Just got an offer from one of their agencies in NYC. When can you start contribute to 401k and HSA?? Right after you are hired? Or do you need to wait 3, 6, or 12 months?
Need some advice, ideally how much should I be investing per pay period in my own portfolio. Gross pay is $5500, contribute 880 to 401k and 550 to ESPP. Living in a HCOL city and was aiming for $1500, but feel like it’s slightly too much and it’s impacting my livelihood. Thanks for any advice.
Former EY employee here. Joined EY in 2014 and left in 2018 as a senior 3. I believe I was vested in the pension. Just wondering if there’s a way to find out and does EY still offer pension buyout?
After I max out my: 1.) 401k for the year 2.) My HSA for the year 3.) ROTH IRA for the year What do people invest in after that? Whats the most tax advantaged way to save once you have maxed all of the above out?
3 years out of school. $30k in student debt at 4.2% fixed. Making enough money to max out 401k and IRA and save on top of that. Thoughts on paying off my debt fully or investing elsewhere?
We are reviewing benefits for our company. I am keen on knowing what's your company doing with the below. pension contributions, how much is employee and employer contribution? Secondment pension contribution? How much PTO? any help would be appreciated.
I’m fairly new to contributing to my 401k, I see mixed opinions on Roth vs. Traditional. My informal life advisor is trying to tell me that the opportunity cost for not having the investments in the traditional 401k is greater than the long term tax benefits from contributing to a Roth 401k? Does anyone have a qualified opinion on this?
Non-US / UK consulting partners - I have been long following the posts here. What I realise is that the US partners feel very strongly that being a B4 partner is best opportunity once could have (maybe just followed by FAANG). With the $1M+ pay and a pension, potentially it makes a lot of sense. With no pensions and some of start ups, Tech companies paying more in other countries, global roles (vs local focus) - what are your views about considering opportunities outside B4
Best IRA to roll over my 401k into? And why?
European in the US here. My plan is to eventually go back to Europe. I am wondering how 401k would work tax wise for withdrawal. If I am not a tax resident, I assume taxes would need to be paid where I am a resident right? Would US make me pay taxes on that money? Appreciate any help here if someone has done more diligence on it. I am trying to decide how much to contribute 401k while I am in the US
What does taking a loan against 401k look like? It is advisable to do that to buy a house and then pay back over time?
Currently making 120k base and contributing 10% to 401k. Employer matches 25% up to 6% of total salary. I have 70k in student loans. Should I decrease my contribution and target the loans?
Does EY 401k provides Brokeragelink feature from fidelity? If so how to start the process?
I have never had a 401K. I want to start contributing but I don’t know where to start. I’m totally clueless and anxious about it. Does anyone recommend a book or video, article, etc that explains it in a simplified way? TIA!
I know this is a loaded question and “depends on the standard of living you want to enjoy” but how much is enough to retire? Like I’m looking for an actual number. 5M? 10M? What’s your number and why?
Just accepted an offer at a company that is offering a 4% dollar to dollar 401K match without any minimum time at the company. Is this match as good as it sounds?
How do you go about shopping around for a good financial advisor? I have about $150k cash to invest and $180k in 401k. Have talked to a few guys but they only seem to want to push their own firms’ products.
If you’d have to explain the 1x1 of investment to someone that doesn’t know a thing, what would you say? Where tf do I start? What apps do I use? How much money do I need? Checking in from Germany, so 401k etc. are not an option here.
What are we spending our bonuses on? I’m conflicted cuz I wanna be financially responsible blah blah blah and pay off loans but I also want a 3 carat diamond ring
If you were in a moderate plane crash (non-life threatening injuries, no psych trauma), and it was your primary airline, what would you ask for in terms of compensation? Lifetime top-tier?

I have a CPA license in Texas, and I’m thinking soon I’d like to return to my home state of Tennessee. I was thinking of applying for a reciprocal license pretty soon and keeping the Texas one until I eventually leave (plan is next 1-3 years). Any downsides to having two simultaneously other than paying fees to both states? Has anyone here done this before?
Is a financial advisor the correct person to talk to about, and strategize with regarding creating a safety net for a parent who doesn’t have one for themselves? I don’t have a ton of resources to throw at this, but feel something needs to be in place. Thanks!

Hello Everyone, I work as an Information System Security Officer. I've been in this position for a few years now. I've been wanting to do something more technical lately (cloud computing/ethical hacking), but I'm not sure how to make the leap. The ISSO function entails a lot of paperwork, security enforcement, auditing, and reporting. I recognize the significance of the position, but to be honest, I find it tedious. Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
What is the culture like at Bain & Company ? Is it generally supportive/collaborative or more of a competitive/cut-throat vibe? I realize it’s somewhat dependent on case team
I recently joined Accenture - my SO is a PHD student and was on my insurance. The university wants to charge us 3K for their insurance since we can’t provide proof of insurance until the new benefits go through. New benefits are supposed to be in effect but we enrollment has been delayed because Accenture lost my Domestic Partner tax form and I had to resubmit. The issue should be resolved by Friday but the school is charging us tomorrow without exception - do we have any recourse?
I’ll be giving my notice around when I have off for a long weekend & when I start my new job I have a vacation planned for a few days. Should I change my plans or keep my personal commitments?

What do mom’s wear for their kid’s birthday party? We’re throwing a birthday party for our 2 year old who spent her first birthday in Covid lockdown. I’m also looking to color coordinate with her. I narrowed down on red as our color but am unable to decide on what to wear. Is a sundress too casual?

Any experience with working for CITI (US)? Sibling is offered a role and is wondering if she must accept? She is looking to establish WLB considering her 6 month old baby still needs her time. Will moving out of a big 4 and getting into an industry role with CITI help her ? Any insights much appreciated!
There are many threads about which clients are the meanest, most demanding and psychotic. But who are some perfectly fine clients that are simultaneously the most dreary and soul crushing to work on? (Inspired by the Applebee's thread)
