Anyone else struggle with interviews? No matter how much I practice I tend to forget and still struggle when it’s time for it. My resume gets me through the door but that’s as far as I’ve been going since I graduated. It’s hard not to want to give up.

I used to feel the same way and it's why I hate interviews so much. I usually break out in a red anxiety rash all over my neck. 🤦‍♀️ I've gotten more comfortable the more I research interview tips. LinkedIn Learning has quick awesome videos on ways to answer typical interview questions. You can also start following the instructors on those videos on LinkedIn as they post helpful info daily. I also found it helpful to write/type out your answers to typical questions and practice saying them aloud. Just keep practicing and keep your head up! Good luck!

I do. I freeze when it’s time for the interview and also get word vomit. I’m amazing at my job, but I can’t interview well. It’s a huge challenge I face.

Have you considered doing mock interviews with a career coach? They offer that service and can be helpful. I did mine through my alma mater’s career center coaches for a lower price than what private coaches charge. If you’re having the interviews on zoom/teams you can have sticky notes open on your screen and write bullet points that will help you remember what you wanted to say and get you going. Good luck!

I am part of a program that is focused on this but it hasn’t been successful for me and I have to wait a year to look elsewhere due to the contract I signed. I can’t afford to pay for another one right now.

I’d be happy to offer up some time to do a mock interview with you!

I’d say preparation does wonders! Here’s my over the top prep (which works best for phone or video interviews where you can have papers in front of you):

Write out answers to the most common STAR/Behavioral questions out there. Google it! Include your examples in the notes. On the same paper, include:
“why do you want to work at (insert name of the company)?”
“What do you know about (name of company?”
“Why are you interested in the (name of position) role? “How does your experience fit?
“Tell me about yourself”
“Biggest strengths and biggest weaknesses”

Once you have ALL the answers in front of you, you will feel SO much better. If you’re on video, make sure the papers are placed in an area that isn’t too obvious if you glance over quickly. But honestly, review the answers. Also have a copy of your resume. After enough interviews, you’ll be a pro!

You can also take some notes on your papers so you remember some of the questions you asked or things they told you about the job. No one minds you jotting down things here and there. I also tend to write their names on my sheet so I don’t forget!

I’m interviewing for a non-technical, mid-senior level role at Stripe. I know culture is really important to them. To that point, I have a half-dozen or so friends that work there, and I’m wondering how it would be perceived if I asked them to formally or informally advocate to the hiring team on my behalf? I know efforts like this can rub people the wrong way, so I just wanna be careful before deploying them. Anyone who works there or knows them able to comment on this?

I was offered a position through a recruiter and the company is now doing a background check. I haven’t received a written offer letter or started any paperwork.

After receiving the offer I turned down a final interview with another company. I’ve also been invited to another interview with someone else.

I don’t feel comfortable continuously turning down interviews if I don’t have a written offer or started any paperwork. I want to email HR about the process but what should I say?

I met with the hiring manager and he pushed me to the "virtual onsite" to meet with 2 members of his team and a cross functional manager for individual interviews.

Here is how I feel I did:
Interview #1: B
Interview #2: A
Interview #3. C

I still have an upcoming interview with the leadership team.

My question is, how much influence does does the 3 interviews have in swaying the decision of my candidacy?

I'm also assuming that the senior leadership is definitely one of the major factors too.

I've gone through 4 interviews at a large company and I butchered the 4th one with the VPS. I felt I could've answered some questions better however I wasnt the most prepared. I did kill the first three with my boss to be and his boss so there is that.

The VP said that I would probably speak to his boss while he figures out the logistics at the end of the interview and I didn't ask great questions but i'm not sure if that's a for sure thing.
