I started working in TCS on 10th June 2021 and my LWD is 12th June 2022. According to the rules i should be eligible for the retention bonus but my HR is saying i probably will not get it. What should I do to ensure that I get the retention bonus and whom should i contact regarding it?Tata Consultancy
Yes, and I've been hearing things from my friends outside the US in countries that have mostly re-opened/didn't get hit too hard. They're saying they're seeing productivity of teams in the US going way down over the past couple of months.
I think the partners etc. were (rightfully) nervous about remote work and technology, and employee focus without oversight, and we really seem to have proved it's not that much of an issue (definitely an issue, but certainly able to push through).
So I think now they're less (again, rightfully) nervous about efficiency, but what's happening is that the emotional drain of having very minimal physical human contact, no physical boundaries (working in same space as living) is taking its toll.
I think over the next couple of months we're going to see the loss in efficiency that the partners were worried about last April/May/June. I've tried to hint at it to a couple of partners, but it's a lot harder to see (no blame to the partners or anyone else) the effect of emotional drain than "Teams isn't working properly, Outlook is overloaded, employees are watching TV, etc."
Also, to add, partners aren't immune to this either. I'm seeing it in some of their emails, I've worked with some long enough to tell that they're having trouble as well, even without them saying anything. But when you have emotional drain, it's hard think that others are experiencing that as well, and the inclination is to internalize it, and just try to push through because it seems like an internal deficiency. It is not.
Gentle reminder that it’s not normal and you are NOT alone :(
Same here. I’m depressed
This sounds like a normal busy/tax season to me. Hobbies, free time, friends? What are those? It’s like I’m a bear hibernating for the winter... instead of sleeping I’m working

Agreed, but I think what’s the case for myself and others is it’s ongoing for much longer than usual (I just came from a fall busy season that I typically don’t have on top of my regular jan - March busy season and I know a lot of people have similar situations of more work for longer periods of time) and there’s no “go out with your friends on a Saturday night to a cool new restaurant during busy season” option with COVID
