Anyone else think that court deadlines are the reason for a lot of stress? A 14 day deadline means basically 7 days to get something drafted and to a client. Wonder if courts should consider this and the stress effect it has on litigants and their counsel.

Ya it blows my mind how short the deadlines are šŸ˜”

Seems like the courts could help play a role in reducing the stress!

If Iā€™m plaintiff, I want the shortest deadlines possible because I want to keep up the pressure for settlement and get to trial faster.

like

True. I guess my point is letā€™s do away with the 7-14 day deadlines for the sake of lawyers mental health on both sides.

And amen, that is the best way to honor him šŸ™šŸ¼!

14 days is too short for anything but really short motions. Judges donā€™t know or donā€™t care about the realities of working for a client.

like

I donā€™t know that I see that many court imposed deadlines. I get a lot of them from OP in discovery ā€œmeet and conferā€ letters (I.e. they find our written discovery answers ā€œinsufficientā€ and demand supplemental responses in 14 days).

I never understand that deadline. You know it took at least 28+ days to draft the original answers. Why would you expect the ā€œmissing linkā€ to appear in 7-14 days?

like

Agree but also those are unenforceable deadlines really. Youā€™d be fine if you just responded saying youā€™re still analyzing their position etc?

Hello,
Iā€™m a junior data scientist and in my current job I mostly code using Pyspark (no machine learning) so I would like to work on a side project that could leverage my profile and data science/ML skills. Iā€™m overwhelmed by the many suggestions online and would prefer to get a suggestion directly from professionals.
PS : Iā€™m not a beginner.

Referrals are, for many, our bread and butter. Some attorneys often encourage clients and prospective with positive relationships to leave reviews on platforms like Avvo and Justia. Others avoid this like the plague due to the implications and risk of receiving, and more so responding to, bad reviews.

We know against the rules to incentivize through compensation referrals from your clients; however, what do you do or where do you limit incentivizing clients to make referrals, if at all?
