Anyone else wonder what recruiters do during a hiring freeze? (And yes, I realize I could have stopped the question after “do”.)

Same thing they do when they are hiring ... Ghost you.

They still talk to people and interview so that the minute it’s over, they can make offers and they’re not starting from scratch. Also, many of us are worrying about job security. Make fun of recruiters all you want, but its a scary time to be a non-billable resource. Can we all just realize that everyone is experiencing a lot of uncertainty now and be kind to each other?

I never used the term all recruiters. I made a joke, that 12 people liked because there was truth behind it. Let us know who you are, recruiter that doesn't ever ghost, and I and many others will be sure to hit you up for open positions and laud you as the best recruiter ever- seriously! And while you're at it, can you please start an initiative at your agency that mandates the hiring of people over 45 or 50? That would be too kind of you.

Not going to share my info here, but if you ever reach out to me personally, you’ll get a response, I promise.

I’ve been ghosted by way more HR and recruiters than not. Maybe a handful in my total career I can consider them actually talent professionals. 🤷‍♂️

Sorry. Start calling them out, maybe then their organizations will realize that their recruiters’ actions reflect poorly on them. 🤷‍♀️

They still talk to people and interview so that the minute it's over, they can ghost you. When I was out of work and worrying about job security it was a scary time and I was experiencing a lot of uncertainty. The vast majority of recruiters showed me no kindness and ghosted me at will. But I wasn't being unkind, just stating a fact in as lighthearted a way as possible

I’m sorry you got ghosted, I’ll never understand how some recruiters function that way. Don’t put us all in the same bucket though, some of us really do care and work hard, so when you generalize like that, YES, you are being unkind.

Any media peeps working brand side? If so, what kind of role do you have and what is different/same/surprising from your previous agency-side life? Especially interested if you pivoted in your career.

Got the job I want, but still hesitant to take it. What do you call this phenomenon. There a little voice in the back of mind saying you’ll stunt your career, etc , etc.
