Anyone else work with a fellow vet who inflate their mil experience? I have caught him in a few lies but don't know what to say.

Yea I just ignore that shit, unless it’s true stolen valor.

That's the way I take it as well. I always judge character and leadership based upon the present not the past.

Why do you care?

If others discover that they are being lied to by vets then they may develop bias against trusting vets.

It also cheapens the experiences of others who legitimately have perspective and valuable insights. If posers claim the same accomplishments, the accomplishments become less meaningful .

Agree with Cap2 - the weirdest thing to me is someone talking about it in the office. I’ve got plenty of stories but those only trickle out around my good buddies after a few beers. Personally I would just leave it lie. Let him dig his own hole.

like

Ugh. No. Would be pretty annoying though and not sure how I would handle it. Would probably roll my eyes and scream inside just for how wildly unnecessary it is to lie about such a thing.

What types of lies are we talking about?

We had an aviation maintenance guy get hit with a mortar. Only one in the squadron to get a purple heart that deployment, despite most of our cobras and hueys taking fire.

What office are you out of OP? I think we know the same person.

Neither I nor any of the vets I work with talk about time in service at the office. And only rarely outside work unless we're at the hotel bar on Veterans Day or a similar holiday. I save those conversations for the active duty kids I still get to hang out with infrequently.

Not worth saying anything

Been at my current company for 4 years, it's pretty small so we do more of a potluck style dinner & drinks thing rather than a big holiday party. As a latina the best thing about it is easily watching my white coworkers try my food 🤣. Bless their hearts they try so hard but this year my boss actually asked me to make sure I take it easy on the spices! Considering just using salt and pepper to season my meat since that's how they like it apparently. What should I make?

Really looking for a way to turn around a toxic building culture with staff to staff bullying, cliques/social isolation, hard feelings on big topics (racism, non acceptance of gender identity). Last year the staff polarized with the lead bully whom I helped leave. And the lead gossip (who was my secretary) that gained their sympathy and turned them against me. She also left. Now I need to regain trust and eliminate unacceptable teacher behaviors. Open to any and all advice.

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

Lit question: I am associate corporate counsel at a mid-sized nonprofit with a small legal team. Although I primarily worked w outside counsel on getting them the info needed for our discovery responses, our GC was the primary reviewer of the response drafts and provided feedback, and told me I didn’t have to review except for some factual items so as not to duplicate efforts. She wants to be taken out of the rog response stating she helped prepare the responses. I feel like this is weird?

I’m going to talk with my psychiatrist at my next appointment, but I’m curious if others have had issues with Vyvanse no longer working. I’ve been taking it for about 15 months. It lost it’s effectiveness for me a few months ago, so my psychiatrist increased my dosage to the max. That helped slightly, but it’s back to no longer working. I usually don’t take it on weekends and even had a 10-day period in August where I didn’t take it.

If you’ve had this issue, I’m curious to know what you did.

Hi all.
Has anyone in IBM been on bench for more than 4 months here?
I have been on bench for almost 4 months now & have been getting automated mails asking me to get assigned to a project by searching one by myself, else necessary action might be taken.

And are there any chances of being straightaway fired based on these automated mails?

I would genuinely need an advise from someone who is aware of this kind of situation.

Thanks in advance

I flunked out of school and had no options when I joined the army. I hated every second of my time in, and spent all my weekends getting as drunk as possible.

Now that I’m out, I graduated with my BA in Econ, got a job I love, and somehow got into an M7 Bschool with a 670 GMAT. I look back on my time in and laugh, and still talk with some of my old army buddies (though not as often anymore)

Amazing how time can change your perspective, because 10 years ago I never thought I’d be here.
