Big 4 folks how much of the work at your strategy practices are PMO type of work? I feel like most of the projects in my firm are just being a PMO for hire for a client project. No real strategic work a such. I'm still entry level though so just want to see if this is how the industry will be going ahead.

Midlevel here and I don’t think I know or fully understand how to network. It feels disingenuous to meet someone with the sole intention of wanting something from them in return. It’s not like making friends with just the idea of having good people in your life. What am I missing? I’ve been on the job market lately and advice I’m hearing is “network, network”/ “your network is your networth” and I’m honestly at a loss as to what to do, or perhaps what questions to ask? -Sigh-

Only minority in a white firm of atty’s and support staff. I’m totally comfortable and can manage it, but I cannot fathom that I AM THE ONLY MINORITY there.

Interviewing for an Associate position at Thompson Coburn. Can anyone share the salary information about them? A google search is not yielding consistent results.

Pretty convinced part of the reason I’m not getting interviews is sexism/racism. If I do the classic experiment of applying w my resume but changing identifying factors like my name, email address, and hbcu college to a generic white boy name and state school—just to see it that gets callbacks— could I get in trouble?

Chicago attorneys: know anyone who does financial planning for those in big law? 1st gen attorney and I admit I know damn near nothing about my finances beyond what my mom taught me which is keep a $20 in my wallet.

Work wants us to get vaccinated and return to office, but I’m an Asian woman and anti-Asian hate makes it unsafe for me to commute. I live in NYC and have to walk and take the train to work. How do I ask for a reasonable accommodation to continue WFH when everyone else starts returning to the office? How do I communicate to my boss that it’s not that I don’t feel safe, but I actually am not safe? Or should I go the PTSD route for the reasonable accommodation, given I probably have it?

I’m six months into practicing law at a small firm where I’m the only woman of color. Lately I’ve been experiencing such intense burnout/exhaustion/mental health blocks when it comes to work, I feel like I’m no longer being a good proactive employee/learner— and then I get more stressed out because I don’t want them to think I’m feeling this was because I’m a woman of color? Idk, this is a dumb burden that we have to carry and I’m just so tired!

Okay so I’m a newly licensed attorney in a very conservative part of TX. I just got my first job offer and I was worried at first thinking that I was in “Trump” territory, but I tested the waters in my interview and spoke about police injustices and how prosecutor’s job is not only to protect victims, but also defendants from police injustices. I have to let them know by tomorrow, but thoughts on if this is a good career move for someone who wants to work in transactional work-RE or Bankruptcy?
