No, but it's refreshing to see targets outside FAANG/MBB/PE.
I saw MLB hiring director-level cyber stuff on job boards a while back. It's probably the same as everything else - network and send in an application.
Just sharpening my game for the Senior Tour
A colleague left my team to do data analytics for a MLB team, gets free tickets all the time and is loving it.
Curious!
Yes (female here) - I have seen relevant / transferable opportunities at local major sports teams but the pay cut is obviously significant. NFL always has quite a few opps as well but only in NYC / Culver City. I guess it just depends on where you live or want to live, if that makes a difference + what you want to specifically do in “sports”
A really good friend of mine worked her way into sports marketing at the Astros, and now the Texans, after college. Her path was the hardest of anyone I graduated with.
She had to build a resume with college teams first, then she had work a bunch of horrible paying internships to get in the door with one of the majors.
I’m sure your experience with consulting will open some doors, but I’ve always admired her hustle
Portas consulting is a specialist boutique for sports. Might be a good midway jump.
Big sports also have internal strategy teams. A friend is on the strategy team for a major international sport. It’s the same as hiring for any industry position, but likely more competitive because of the cachet.

The person I know there was classic management consulting (tier 2) with an MBA. No sports experience but a LOT of passion. Has been very successful at the firm.
Wow, really cool. Thanks for sharing.
Would love to see input on this. Thanks for starting the discussion, OP.
