Does anyone here use LinkedIn for prospecting, and have success with it? I have Premium, and I send dozens of messages per week, and if I’m lucky one person will respond. And most of the people I message work for companies that are already purchasing from us, but there’s no business relationship. Super frustrating.
The other question is: how many of you receive unsolicited messages on LinkedIn and just ignore them?
The way I look at it, a performance plan is a polite warning to find a new job.
Well this certainly caught my eye. Are you on a plan now?
I’ve let people go after being on a performance plan when they haven’t met measures. However, I have had others that were out on performance plans that proved themselves viable- and were removed from the plan successfully. Typically, the idea of the performance plan is to help get someone back on track if they aren’t meeting standards. However, if the plan and it’s standards are neglected, then it’s a clear indication that the requirements aren’t getting fulfilled and that’s usually a sign for termination.
I was new to an underperforming territory and put on a plan despite a steady build on funnel. Typical deal timeline was ~12m. I didn’t have any closure due To the guy before me being asleep at the wheel. A few weeks into the plan a bluebird got me out of the dog house and a few weeks after funnel began to produce and put me in #2 slot for revenue. I did nothing different pre/post plan and this was a seed of resentment that led to me eventually moving on a few years later. I always thought that this was an opp for my leadership to align and help
Me rebuild an underperforming patch and instead they began to string me up for termination. Be under no illusion that a plan is first step towards termination
In short, refresh your resume and start pinging recruiters. My $0.02 freely given
Depends which company you are at. If you’re at mine - 100% plan to be gone after the PIP period. You’ll get severance which is nice but it’s generally understood that if you get put on PIP, you start looking to jump ship so you have something lined up after termination.
I have not, personally, but have terminated employment with an employee after a performance plan requirements were not met.
The goal of the plan is to help you meet the minimum requirements of the position. If you cannot successfully do that, the organization will likely terminate. Focus on doing what you can to succeed rather than what happens if you don’t.
Agreed. Most managers putting someone on plan know exactly how it will turn out
If I want to fire a sales rep, I have to put them on a PIP first. It's documentation to cover the company from a wrongful termination lawsuit. In my experience, it's far more likely that an employee on a plan will be terminated than be retained.
Yes
When I got a new boss I could tell he didn't really like me and when covid hit my numbers were lower so I cant really tell if he's doing this because he has to or to fire me
No. If the product isn’t selling or you’re not able to sell it, start interviewing and move on.
I really want to know if anyone has ever been fired from one and what happens
It’s possible but unlikely. I wouldn’t bother, there’s always lots of great options out there for someone that’s good at what they do.
