Anyone ever been ghosted by a new hire? As in completes a little bit of orientation sends one or two text messages to make things seem legit but then never logs their time skips critical onboarding meetings, completely stops returning calls, emails etc. then not even a week in poof they they out the door.

My boss asked me to take care of some of the details of a project for her—the stuff that isn't really my area of expertise. And now I feel like a shirker because I haven't been able to finish them yet.

My boss (atty) is so disorganized! I’ve been with him 6 months and he’s having a hard time delegating, sharing info and managing deadlines. I’ve organized the caseload to manage the deadlines. He says he wants me to help with discovery but when I offer to start on one, he says he needs to do it. (Since he might have to present as evidence) When I give him deadlines and ask for the docs he says he’ll get to it. It’s a small 1 man firm, and I’m the first assistant besides his wife. Any advice?

Could I pull off asking my manager from J1 for approval of freelancing on the side? It’s quite common anyway for designers I think. And then my j2 can be “freelance” even though it’s full time?

How to professionally break manipulative work relationships with your co workers and management?

A partner put me in charge of a specific project that I ran independently. Things were going well. The client began asking me to do more and more, including revamping their system and internal trainings. The client even gave me a litigation matter. Suddenly, the partner became more involved. I was removed from meetings concerning the revamping, my trainings were cancelled, and he started micromanaging. He has now sidelined me from the project and trash talked me to the client. I am very upset.

I have quite a few interviews scheduled, but just found out today that my spouse was layed off. I don’t think I should leave a solid role at a company I have tenure at in this economy with my spouse out of work…how should I tell the people I was interviewing with?
