Anyone ever feel like the corporate world is one big charade, with everyone (including senior leaders) stumbling around, BSing, and not really knowing what they’re doing pretty much any of the time?
Just curious.

Also, yes.

Yes. There are definitely smart folks but it’s hard navigating through BS and inefficiencies but it’s profitable

Whenever I think someone more senior than me is bafflingly incompetent, I remind myself that they probably stopped mentally developing at 22 and then just think of them as a 22 year old with terrible skin.

Things start to make a lot more sense after that.

The Peter Principle is real

You think it’s just the corporate world? Lol go work in a non-corporate setting and you’ll see the level of BSing is even higher

Lol there is a lot of BS in law (especially litigation) and doctors don’t know as much as we think they do — I get this from family members who are doctors and lawyers.

That said, I think all those fields have significantly less BS than general corporate america + consulting do

It’s not just the corporate world. Plenty of aspects in our lives are like this. Humans create a lot more stress and unnecessary work than we need to

it depends

NY 🐠ies! SO and I live in NYC but not together yet. He lives in Queens and I live in Brooklyn. We’re thinking of moving together and living in the city specifically East Village, West Village, Greenwich Village or the area surrounding. I think it’s always been a desireable area, but do you think it’s worth the move during COVID-19? What’s the vibe like currently in those areas atm or how do you foresee it being in a couple of months? Thinking of Fall move in the end of Aug/early sep 2020

When people ask what I do: "I work a lot sitting in a chair looking busy or taking on conference calls."

Left boutique consulting after 6 years making $85k to work for LinkedIn. Within 2 years making a base of $120k plus 30k in bonus and perks as an analyst. Would an MBA would further accelerate comp?

I live in AZ. I sent my kids to a higher performing high school, where the majority of the classes are considered honors and are discussion based. They hate it. My thought process was that they would learn valuable skills to help them in college and beyond but now my sons GPA is low so he will start out at the community college (not a huge issue, it’s how I started). How do you know when it’s time to cut your losses and move them to a different school where they might might be happier?

Anyone here have experience with/insights into OnPrem Solution Partners? Looks like they’re still hiring at this time. Any and all feedback would be great. TIA 😊
