Yes. With two weeks to the expert report deadline. (We had a new one lined up). It was worth it. I think it’s the reason we won.

Rarely but when you need to do it you need to do it. What’s your situation?

Consulting expert yes. Testifying expert no.

I clerked right after law school and I’ve been working in BigLaw since (last 3 years). I’ve always thought career clerking for the right judge would be incredible and I may have the opportunity to do so in the next year. Has anyone gone from BL to career clerk? Interested to hear about others’ experiences and if anyone can advise where I’d likely come in on the JPS with 3 years experience and a year of prior federal clerkship service. Thanks!

Can someone share your thought of how to deal with this situation. I am completely lost in terms of my mental health. Not able to overcome and accept this situation. I think this is right place to ask, as we all are going through the same.

Has anyone heard about an offer for employment be rescinded because the background check showed a drivers license suspension 2 years ago due to a third party firm error not informing me on the results of the disputed ticket and requirement to pay ticket fees within specified time. The drivers license has since been in good order and is currently valid but the record shows a past suspension for a speeding ticket.

Q for HR folks! For companies who have offices in US and Canada, how easy would it be for American HR team to set up a role & compensation via the Canadian office for a Canadian remote worker? Would be a lot of work? But i know companies like Meta and Spotify do do this.

I'm Canadian and applied to a US remote role. Canadians don't need a visa for this. One of the ways would be to use Canadian entity's hr/payroll services. They showed keen interested but waned since finding out I'm Canadian.

Where would I be able to find referrals? I’m looking to advance in my career at a different agency because I realize a private practice isn’t for me financially at this time. I’m not leaving my job cold Turkey but I need to look for something stable and I know referrals would greater my chances of getting hired.

Ethics Question: Is it ethical to interview at a firm that your in a case against? In other words, you represent the plaintiff and the firm you are interviewing with is representing a defendant. I can see how their might be the perception that you would "pull your punches" in order to not ruffle the feathers of your prospective employer. Thoughts?

Junior litigators, how are you all doing? Am I the only one finding it impossible to manage my own caseload, take on new urgent assignments from partners, and not be burnt out right now? Getting to the point where I’m so behind that I sometimes feel too overwhelmed to even start on my task list. Doesn’t help that partners take forever to review my work so i can get the product to the client. Looking for commiseration & encouragement that things will look up lol!

How many times would you your boss/managing attorney scream/berate you (not just frustration) before you quit? Some context: Yesterday morning managing attorney comes in legitimate screaming at me because I forgot (for the first time in over a year of employment) to lock the door when I arrived, he then brings up something that happened earlier in the week where I didn’t get clients payment info, instead emailed assistant to run payment since I’ve never been taught how to accept payment.

How do you approach collecting documents from a client in response to discovery requests? Particularly with broad and vague document requests that leave you guessing about what the other side is looking for, even after you meet and confer. I’m realizing no one ever taught me a systematic approach to this problem. And that big, name-brand companies are absolutely terrible about record-keeping or even knowing what records they have.

Filed a complaint in early May, they filed a motion to dismiss timely, and I responded in a timely fashion as well. During my research on the motion to dismiss I realize that I had cited a section of the statute that I now feel applies less than a different section.

What is my duty to the court? I do feel that both sections of the statute can likely apply, and admittedly the section that applies better I feel has a lower burden of proof.

Can I file a motion for leave to amend post response?
