Anyone ever get sentenced to a few days of jail time and not tell the firm? I might have to take an impromptu vacation.

Dui doesn't affect your license. I applied for mine while I was on probation and got it no problem. I would tell anyone in the office tho. Most people won't care because there's at least a few that have a dui themselves, but what they don't know won't hurt them

like

Only time it will come up is if you are up for Partner or MD, the firm runs another background check at that time. If you had a DUI and didn't disclose on your annual confirmation then guess who is not going to get the position. My recommendation is to speak to your HR if you are serious about your career. It is not a good thing to have done but you are not the first, or the last, and it will show you have owned up and can be trusted.

Stop drinking and driving before you kill someone

Be careful if you have a CPA. I have heard DUI affects your license

like

How do you get one dui, let alone multiple, with uber and lyft being a thing

like

I hope the firm lets you go. My wife and child are on the road to/from work/daycare and you put them at risk for no reason. I wish the CPA societies took a serious stance like the BAR.

I stand by it. Put my kids at risk with your selfish behavior = die in a fire.

like

Man you can just afford an Uber easily. Why risk anyone else's or your life?

like

Good lord Op. If that's your actual feelings about drunk driving, and not some bravado on the internet, you are a selfish peice of shit. I hope you get fired, so you learn your lesson before you're forced to learn it in a worse way.

Argh. Selfish and stupid. You're = you are. Your denotes possession.

^ I've made many mistakes. Drunk driving isn't a mistake. It's a choice.

@BDO1 He/she stated they made the mistake multiple times. Imagine if they ran over and killed your wife/husband and daughter? Should have CPA license/drivers license taken away permanently

Check your state for a rehab program. Usually get charges dropped from your record and void jail time. Just probation and fines.

Hello, I am a new grad with a doctorate in OT. I just got an offer for a job working at a private school. The offer is 58K with benefits. 15 days PTO. Do you guys think I can negotiate the salary to 70K, which based on my research is the average pay for my level of experience and education? Or is that too much to ask?

I need to make a decision by tomorrow:
Current base salary: $55k
Current bonus: 10.5% (~$5k)
Vacation: 2 weeks
*been with company for 4 years. Started as a product data analyst out of school.

New offer base salary: $90k
Bonus: 12% (~11k)
Vacation: 3 weeks

Counter offer: $80k
Bonus: 14% (~11k)
Vacation: 3 weeks

The new offer would require significantly more travel. I have a young family and value time at home. My heart is telling my to take the counter offer from my company.
