Anyone ever go through a period of time where they feel absolutely utterly unproductive? Things are mildly slow, but maybe not slow enough for me to feel this way. I just feel like any task I do is a waste of time. Maybe it’s just doing slip and fall cases as long as I have and becoming bored, or maybe it’s because I’ve been job hunting for a while and I’ve already long since mentally divorced myself from this job. It’s boring and pays poorly. My motivation is absolutely zero and I’m worried

Yep. Entering a month of time at a time. Struggling to bill 140 in a good month. Been there. Am there now. Will probably be there again in the future. It happens to everyone. I have to travel for a client this weekend/early next week, and my husband suggested I leave a day early to just take a day to myself without worrying about work/parenting.

Me rn. It took two stern calls from partners to even get me to enter my time entries from the past month. Not good. The only solution I think is to find a new job I can feel more invested in. Working on that but it’s tough.

Take that MH day and then remind yourself that your work right now isn’t for your partners its for your future rec/reputation. It doesn’t have to be brilliant. Listen to music while doing the routine shit and give yourself a hard stop time on the hard shit. Give yourself little incentives (if I bill three hours I can take a walk and get a fancy latte, or whatever). Polish them turds and put them in the doc bank so you feel good enough about towing the line at your current job to interview well and move into something that makes you happy.

Has anyone ever told a partner that they are being disrespectful by screaming at you or scolding you for something that isn’t true? I know other professionals respect when someone doesn’t back down or stands up for themselves but it seems that big law is the opposite.

My 8 month old has been sleeping through the night since she was 2 months old (like 7 pm- 7 am, no feeds)….but recently has started waking and being inconsolable at various parts of the night. Even daddy can’t calm her, it’s only me (and usually me nursing). Has anyone gone through this?? Tips for not creating bad habits/undoing her previous routine? I feel like we jinxed ourselves with our luck the last few months…😢

I want to start an app, and have a very good idea. The app is simple , it just interacts with user and maybe some company. But mostly it helps the user. I don’t know how to code at all or how to hire a developer. I don’t want them to steal my idea and don’t know if there is any legal work I can do before telling them my idea. How much would creating an app run ? Is there any website that can code for you? How should I convey my idea to developer without them stealing my idea.

Thoughts on whether you should wear muted colors (black, brown, gray) for an interview or if you would be more memorable in brighter colors (like white, cream, light blues, etc)? Obviously I’m aware it’s not the outfit that gets you the job … but just wanted to hear from attorneys who have participated in the hiring process… upcoming interview that is very important to me so any extra tidbits are helpful!

Got called into a meeting yesterday with my current, small firm to have a conversation about my commitment to them and if I was interviewing elsewhere. They questioned why I left early or came late a few times in the past few weeks (it was for interviews). I obviously said I wasn't interviewing. And now, a day later, I receive an offer that I will definitely be accepting. This is going to be awkward.

How much do you rely on your para? I’m in my 30s and pretty computer literate, I don’t dictate, I like doing research etc. I know other attorneys that have their paras do all their discovery, all their research, all their motions and I wonder how it’s possible to hit billables if someone else is doing the majority of your work? Seems crazy to me.
