Anyone ever gone from B4 to a local firm? What was the transition like? Pros/cons? Considering making the jump as a second year associate for more work / life balance & to see more diverse tax issues, but want to know if the grass is truly greener.

I've heard the work life balance isn't necessarily better at smaller firms so to choose based on the type of clients you're interested in. But really interested in other perspectives I don't have any first hand experience with smaller firms.

Honestly there are other threads that have also discussed this. If you can find them, they have some really good info. Talked about ppl going from B4 to smaller firms and vice versa

Anyone work in big 4 in a relationship with someone at another big 4?

Looking for suggestions on how to break into this space.

I'm a RN who's worked in sales for 14 years within the industrial and energy spaces. Yea, I know, super random for a nurse, but I excelled greatly.

I still work weekends as a nurse and would love to combine my business acumen with my education by working for a pharma, biotech, or medical device company.

I've applied for these types of jobs and get nowhere. But when I apply to engineering organizations I get called immediately.

I have tried earlier with linkedin etc but no luck and it seems like techies are more in demand and are picked from India and not sales.

IC vs Manager. Are there major pay differences between the two? Right now, I have been offered a Principal Data Architect role which is the same pay as the Sr Mgr. I would be moving from a people manager to more of an IC role. Which is better for long term growth? Do you have to move to people management to move far in a company? I feel like at a start up it is better to be an IC due to the chaos of managing expectations at a startup. Hiring in a smaller startup is close to impossible.

I may have the opportunity to transfer internally to a gaming team/Meta team which might be more tangible towards my goals. Realize my profile is pretty solid and would enjoy the experience of bschool but debating the ROI and opportunity cost. Appreciate the perspective!

Hello,

In search of interview advice!

After about a full year of attempting to make a career shift into career services in higher education, I am finally getting interviews. I recently interviewed for a Career Coach position at a community college. Tomorrow, I have an interview for an Assistant/Associate Director for the career development office at a law school. Advice on how to market myself or what questions I can expect with not a lot of experience in my background would be appreciated!

Hey everybody, new here. But after reading through some of the post , I see that I am not the only one in the same boat. I’m in my 2 year as a teacher, currently a middle school math teacher. It was never my intention to begin with and I don’t mind it. I just know that’s not where my heart is. Anybody have similar experiences moving from teaching into another career such as something in finance. How would I even begin to break into the field with a degree in something not particularly related.

Hi all, I've had this burning question that I just can't seem to figure out. If I've already learned UX experience on the job but don't have any professional certification, should I still get a certificate for validation? If so, what's the best certificate (for a more experienced designer) and if not, what continuing education should I pursue to enhance my career as a Product Designer? Thanks in advance!
