If you are a golfer bring your clubs. If you like football go to a Jaguars game. Largest city in the US by land mass.

Have you worked there?

I had a client in Jax for 8 months and really liked the location, especially in the winter. The airport / rental car situation is pretty low stress. Surprisingly good restaurant options and hotels. It’s nice to be by the beach when you can

smart

I live in Jax. It’s changed a lot in the last few years and there are a lot of good restaurants/ bars. I came from DC and it’s obviously not on the same level as DC, but I was impressed. The beach is nice but I recommend going north to Atlantic and not by the Jax beach pier. Unless you’re a surfer - then the pier is where you want to be.

JAX is growing rapidly; tons of logistics, fintech, financial services and insurance. Decent health / life sciences industry too. A number of large orgs have their back offices HQ here. That being said, it's not the most progressive city and a lot of long term locals lament the changes that bigger business brings. Labor market is very, very tight so it's a great place to live as an employee. COL is relatively low for a city of this size. DM if you want more insight into any of the above.

I found it pretty boring but that was a few years ago... maybe bars close after 10 these days

boring. terrible city, no real life. easy airport though....

Need counsel: Left advertising to go client side last year. Working at a huge company isn’t for me long-term but the money is great, I have more balance and actually raised my kids this year. I have the opportunity to be a c-suite leader at a very small agency on the rise. Super confused. Money will be less, long-term opportunity will be more. Also thinking about having another kid soonish.

While everyone’s situation is unique, it appears to me that there is a general (and substantive) difference between the mindset of senior execs/partners (Gen Xers) and the Gen Z/Millennial troops as to the need to head back to the office. There is a world of difference between “the office” as code for “client lunches, rounds of golf” vs “needless commuting time that will eat into a working day that is already unsustainable”. Do you feel your organization is in touch with where you are?

Hi! 2019 grad and started working in-house at a large org. Learning a lot, my area is finance and corporate. Curious to know if there are any folks here who moved to a big law firm from an in-house position (very early on in their career). Was it easy? Did you like it? Very happy in my current position - I def have great work life balance, but feel need more than that. Thanks in advance.

Hello 🐠, I have been on a project that I do not like, has absolutely obliterated my work life balance, and put me under a lot of stress. Not to say this doesn’t happen a lot in our job, but I have an opportunity to go back to an old client that I loved. My current project leadership knows the date I’m set to roll off, but have been hinting they won’t let me leave because I’m good at my job. I am so desperate to leave and have been advised by multiple colleagues to do so. What do I do??
