Anyone ever heard of someone being on maternity leave during the start of manager promotion year? Advice to mitigate the career impact?

I went on Mat level the week before my promo hearing - no affect, got promoted! Didn't come back until well into the next fiscal year....but I hear that's not the case for the other big 4....a friend at EY was afraid to even say they were prego

I went out on leave this year right before promotion decisions were made and I was promoted.

The impact is before promotion happens , not after

Sorry, to clarify - I meant being off on maternity leave for the first 3 months of the year before promotion happens.

I know someone who spent first part of this last year on leave and still got promoted. You definitely have to work harder to make up for the time you were out but it's possible. No coasting over the finish line.

This is exactly what happened to me...returning the next fiscal year and still on the bench- trying to find a role- getting pretty anxious as not found any yet but also need he flexibility as my son was born 3 months premature

Sorry to clarify I promoted right before finding out I was pregnant- but shortly thereafter went on disability due to high risk pregnancy
