Anyone ever just get up, walk into your bosses office and quit and walk out that day because you were just done with the BS (and you had a job lined up)?

You will have about 2 mins of self righteous self congratulation . Followed by regret

As a Jr. CW, I was in a meeting once (v small agency) and our creative head was screaming at us about his perception of our lack of effort, good ideas, etc. and he asked if anyone had anything to say and one AD raised his hand and said, “I’d like to take this opportunity to give you my two weeks notice,” and it was the best lesson in the need for fuck you money I ever had.

I worked at an agency once where 2 writers did exactly that on the same morning because they’d had enough of our insanely micromanaging boss. Was brilliant.

Not in the media industry but I did when I worked in retail at CompUSA back in the day. Business sales. Fawk that. Was so bored to tears, didnt have anything lined up. Was young enough with pretty much no bills or responsibilities that I could take the risk. So liberating. If you have enough savings stashed away that you could handle 6-12 months of no job then do it. Otherwise if you have responsibilities thats prob a no go.

While I’m sure it would feel great the moment you’re doing it, what do you really gain from it? I always apply the 2-day rule to act on anything that bothers me. Wait two days, and your anger will probably be gone - and you can quit in normal fashion without burning any bridges. I’ve quitted jobs I hated before and tried to be as nice as possible, and said it was me not them - and it has paid off in the long run.

If you understand anything about the universe and the value of long-term relationships, you wouldn't walk out. Everyone knows once you give notice, you check out anyway and you stop being given any real work that you can't start and finish over the remaining 10 days so feel free to quit but do cruise along for the remainder...

Why not say it with a resignation cake? At least all your coworkers can enjoy it too!

I walked into HR on a Monday morning before upper management was in the office. I told them I resign effective immediately and walked out, got my shit and went home with no job lined up.

Once, I handed in a $2500 expense report and my resignation simultaneously. Best feeling in the world.

I worked with someone who did. We tried to talk him out of it, but he was too pissed and just walked in, quit and walked out. Not another word or thought about it.

In college, I worked as a bank teller for a few weeks. Hated it. FAXED my letter of resignation and didn't show up for work. Then had the balls to show up to get my final check. Ah youth.

Btw, if you truly have "fuck you" money, you're not the employee. Ever. As long as you work for a living, specifically, you don't have "fuck you" money. That's truly rich status where being engaged in work is inconsequential to your financial well-being.

Yes and it was awesome, and it was justified. I’ve actually done it twice and regret nothing.

I left an agency job that I loved for “my dream job” in-house. It’s been a few months, but I’m really missing my old job. I feel silly for leaving it, esp because I’m realizing my “dream job” isn’t doing it for me, despite it paying much more than my old job. What do I do?

Hi I am hiring for my office in Israel. I am being told that there is no ownership on resumes. In the US if the person we hire is in our database within the last year we pay no fee. But in Israel my people tell me there is no such thing and if they present a candidate and we hire them we owe a fee whether the candidate is in our DB or not. Has anyone had experience in Israel with this situation?? Thank you in advance.

HR and leadership denied my request for our company’s cell phone reimbursement ($60, but it’s still something) because they came to a conclusion that those who aren’t directors don’t use their phone enough for work purposes to warrant it. So I’m about to delete my work email, Zoom, Slack, etc. from my phone. Guess if they need to get ahold of me, they have to wait until I get on my computer.
