Anyone ever return from PTO sick? I hate taking the extra time, but I am not feeling well. Not sure if it’s COVID, but a lot of COVID symptoms.

Get tested, then take more PTO. That’s why we have it. Feel better!

If traveling to a client or going to an office, please don’t show up and spread an illness, COVID or not. I’ve had entire teams get taken out for a bit from someone trying to be a hero trying to work through sickness and showing up and spreading it around. Clients also don’t appreciate getting sick from their vendors. You’re also likely to be less productive when sick, and working through it may also prolong your recovery.

Note at PwC you don’t need to burn vacation hours when sick, use the sick code.

Yes it happened to me. I took another day off after returning from a long PTO due to cold.

I hope it’s not COVID for you. Take care!

It has happened. I actually got home from vacation Sunday and tested positive. I’m feeling mostly fine so I’m working, but it happens.

Hi everyone! How did you discuss with your boss all the time you’d be needing to take off for appointments? My boss absolutely hates when people take time off. Company policy is at least a week ahead of time - she says she needs at least 2. Also when someone requests off a couple days in March then a couple days in April for example, she gets annoyed and says they are requesting too much time (even if they have plenty of PTO available).

Hi Moms, anyone's OB suggested to get induce between 39 - 40 weeks if you are lower risk to decrease risk of c-section? Was told there's a study on it but as a FTM, I want it to start naturally if possible and not sure how I feel about inducing before due date.

Asked for a LOA because I just got bad medical news and want time to process & find surgeons (I have to decide between staying in constant pain or being able to have kids one day). HR said it’s not a valid reason & I’ll lose my insurance at the end of the month if I take leave. They want me to use my 5 days of sick time & return to work after. I have an underlying autoimmune issue & need to save my sick days in case of a flare up. Ranting, but a reminder that companies don’t care about anyone

Partners, please looking for some advice. I work for a boutique firm and worked really hard the past year with a lot more responsibilities and an under staffed team (hiring freeze because of covid). My bonus number was good, but not great (I didn’t get my max bonus). The reason from my boss was that while my performance was well recognized, because of covid there was a broad bonus haircut. However, my direct reports did not get any bonus. It has really tainted my view on the firm because...cont.

Hey all I have an opportunity to buy a vacation home as a private sale from my parents (they are buying a new house in that area and need to sell the old one), it is waterfront property in NH 10 minutes from Mt Sunappee. I am concerned that making this purchase may make me a little cash poor in the short term, but still manageable. Would it make more sense to rent out the property through a rental company that included insurance and cleaning or to put it on airbnb?

Hello there! I currently work in billing at a medical office. I got my Bachelors in Psychology a few years ago but I couldn’t find a position that seemed like a good option for me that was well paying and fulfilling. I tried working as a tech at an Applied Behavior Analysis clinic but it wasn’t a good fit. I’m hesitant to try case management or social work because I worry I won’t like it but I want to use my degree in Psychology. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Hello all
I am a biology graduate. I worked in cancer research and development for more than two years. Recently moved to Canada, and now I'm wanting to transition into clinical research.
Most jobs I find online ask for atleast 2 years clinical experience.
Does anyone have any tips on how to procure this experience? Should I invest in a course? Or should I volunteer at a CRO?
I recently got offered a clinical admin position, would this count as clinical exp?

I worked as a technical PM for a medium-sized adtech company in NYC in charge of 2 technical teams, and the business intelligence team.

On Thursday I was informed by the lead PO and HR that leadership had decided that the project management office was no longer necessary for the company and all three of us, the director and the two technical PMs, were being let go. None of us were given any notice.

They offered me 2 weeks of severance pay and I negotiated it to 3.

Do creative directors have to manage people?
I don’t like managing people, especially juniors who are still figuring out their career paths. But at my company, in order to be considered a leader, you have to manage people. I see myself as a leader, contributing ideas and strategy… I just don’t want to deal with developing performance goals and compensation. Is this the case everywhere? Can I be a creative leader without managing?
