Hello! I have 9 years total of healthcare experience and 5 years of that I was a Residential supervisor for a brain injury rehabilitation. I don’t have a degree only college credits I’m trying to obtain a Psychology degree. I’ve been applying to countless jobs on Indeed and barely get an call backs for an interview. I’d say out of the 50 jobs I applied for I only got 4 interviews. Is anyone else extremely frustrated with being out of work? :(

How long did it take before you felt comfortable and like you weren't just taking way longer on assignments than expected? Just got called out for our bill being too high (yes, there will be a write-off). For context I am a second year associate, but retooled to real estate less than a year ago. So, starting over again really.

For years I’ve seen people honored as “Best Lawyers in America” or “SuperLawyers” or some other legal industry award, accolade, or acknowledgement. How does this happen? I’ve read that peer nominations and evaluations are needed - does this mean people are basically campaigning among their lawyer friends and peers to get votes? I’m just curious, I’ve never gotten such an award and wonder if there’s something I should be doing (other than being a good lawyer, of course)...

5th year associate interviewing counsel candidate on Monday. Not sure why I’m tapped to interview this candidate, but does anyone have any good interview questions I can ask? Usually I am interviewing lateral associate candidates so don’t really know what questions to ask this counsel candidate who has worked as a lawyer for 10 years or so longer than me. Will be interviewing with another counsel who usually lets me get a question or two in.

What happens to average associates who do good enough work but don’t care about partnership? Do we eventually get pushed out?

Are others seeing their work slow down? It’s been a pretty dramatic halt for me. I thought maybe it was a me problem, but others in my group admitted they are also slow. I’ve been consistently 110-120% utilized, but I’ve only billed 22 hours this month. I’m in fund formation.

I offered to cover for someone for one day on something and somehow it ended up with me having to work all night on a Friday for a closing a month later...big L
