Hi Everyone,
I just received an offer to work as an software sales representative (SDR) for IBMs Z systems. I'm coming as a sales engineer in the cloud security space. Can anyone advise me on whether Z systems are something worth going into? Also what do the growth opportunities look like at IBM? Is there opportunity for lateral movement onto other teams? Not too sure how I feel about working on mainframes (Z systems) but they keep pitching hybrid cloud to me. IBM

It’s very difficult to consistently make money day trading and most people can’t make it work. They either run out of money or the returns don’t make it worth the effort.
If you can develop a strategy or focus area and learn how to execute trades while managing risk you have a shot. I have a couple dozen core positions that I follow and hold for years. I sometimes trade around them since I know the companies and understand how the stocks behave. But it’s a focused set of opportunities. When I get outside those companies I usually don’t do well. My win rate is getting better but I’ve paid a little bit for that knowledge.
One resource I’ve found to be very valuable is Real Vision. They have some very good interviews that cover macro views, market events, trading psychology, and risk management. The daily briefing is free and the base level tier has a lot of content - I think it’s like $250 a year. You don’t get trade ideas per se, but you learn a lot more than you do from a news letter.
No... dont... just invest in index funds or blue chips and learn
If you’re talking true day trader (multiple trades per day), the successful ones I know are hyper focused on 1-3 stocks.
Tons of education on YouTube, also check out the podcast Chat With Traders. It’s fantastic.
I do. I day trade options
I would recommend selling options. Make sure they are net delta neutral so you’ll make money regardless of market direction.
