Anyone expense a proper chair or desk successfully? My back is about shot.

I doubt your company will go for that - maybe they'll let you take a chair home from the office, but otherwise furnishing your home is out of your salary.

Depends on the company - PwC Canada is providing all employees $100 reimbursement to buy whatever they need to work from home better (including chairs; I’m getting a chair cushion and back support)

Standing desk is the best thing for your back. Sitting all day is really horrible for your health. I did some research, here is my experience. Highly recommended! You don’t have to stand all day, but starting to stand more is super healthy. Good luck OP!

I bought an ergonomic butt seat and lumber back thing to put on my kitchen chair. It’s surprisingly very comfortable. About $55bucks total

Thanks for sharing! Looking for things like this

I just bit the bullet and spent about $1500 buying a monitor and desk this week. Next month - laptop and keyboard. Probably will end up spending about $5-6k total but it’s probably worth it in the long run.

like

I bought
- a $100 monitor from amazon
- desk from a local secondhand store $100,
-$55 of ergonomic back/butt rests to put on a kitchen chair
- toner and paper for a printer I had ($40)
- approx $200 of long distance calls on my personal cell (trying to use toll free dial ins but still have had to do a few direct calls that cost me)
? I think that’s it so far

I don’t intend to expense any except the phone charges.

helpful

You can maybe get away with just outfitting a chair you already own with some ergonomic cushions, if they won’t cover a chair. Also they might be willing to cover that expense even if they won’t cover a chair.

EY offered a stipend and I used it to buy a chair.

Does anyone know if we can reimburse expenses for items listed in Wageworks while on maternity?

I know we cannot expense phone/internet/ commuter benefit as I am not actively doing work.

However, for other items that fall under wage works reimbursement, I couldn’t find anything in writing yet.

I'm a US citizen living abroad I applied almost 11 months ago for my spouse. Married for years, kid. I wait and wait. It seems this will take 2 years, maybe more. I feel trapped. On one side the US system demands I work and domicile in US, the other side says families should be prioritized to stay together. My spouse has had enough of the process. I feel trapped abroad and locked in a dysfunctional system. We're just in limbo, it's depressing

If you work at a small agency in NYC, could you tell me what your monthly health insurance premiums are for families? I'm at a small agency in NYC and the health benefits for a family are almost prohibitively expensive, ~1,500/mo with a high deductible. Would love to know if we're competitive or not and if not, share that info with our HR and bosses.

Hot take, for those who received a stimulus based on FY19 or FY18 returns why doesn’t the government make people pay it back in the FY20 return if they don’t qualify based on the actual tax year stimulus was for? I understand why they couldn’t wait but IrS knows who received it so it isn’t hard to implement. Could have used the anticipated saving coming back to fund more stimulus for those who truly needed it.
